 Joy  W. Hancox,  74, of the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, formerly of New Castle, passed away peacefully on  Saturday morning, August 6 2016, in the care of  Amedisys Hospice at Evergreen Nursing Center. She was born in Brookville PA on October 9 1941, to the late  Quay and  Georgia  Conway  Wolfe. Joy graduated from  Brookville High School,  and the Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing, affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh. She was Methodist by faith.   Joy loved reading, sewing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguin, Steelers, and Pirates fan.  She loved her grandchildren:  Jessica  Olson,  Steven, Nicholas, and Joseph Totin….

Cheryl A. “Sherri” Craven Hampton, 55, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 in her residence. Cheryl was born on May 4, 1961 in Ellwood City to Robert G. and Carolyne D. Boy Craven of Perry Twp. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1979. She had worked at the former McDowell’s Hotel in Ellwood City as a waitress for six years. Grace Martha Scarpitti, 97, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 of natural causes. She was born May 30, 1919, raised in Ellwood City, and lived in her home at 1204 Beaver Avenue from the age of 8 until moving to Shenango Presbyterian Care in New Wilmington, Pa in 2008 where she received the finest care. She worked in various mills and factories in Ellwood City from the age of 15, when she left school during the Great depression to help support her family, until retiring from the Ellwood City Knitting Mill. James L. Beatrice, 73, of Wampum Rd., Ellwood City passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. Born October 16, 1942 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Carmen J. and Elizabeth Muoio Beatrice. He was married for 33 years to Karen Queen Beatrice as they were married February 16, 1983. Jim was the retired owner and operator of J. Beatrice Foods. He and his wife, Karen had formerly owned the Nautical Lounge in Beaver Falls. Josephine Lucille Eonta, of Ellwood City, died July 27, 2016. She was 90. She was born in Ambridge, Pa., on Sept. 16, 1925, just after her twin sister, Mary, the youngest of seven, Gerardo, Laura, Antoniette, Alfonso, Frank, and Mary: to parents who’d not been in America long. Carmen J. DeGennaro, 94, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in his residence with his loving family at his side. Mr. DeGennaro was born on July 11, 1922 in Italy to the late Stefano and Assunta Napolitano DeGennaro. He is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1942 and the Holy Redeemer Parish.
