Everett Wimer, 73

Everett Wimer, 73, of Ellwood City, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at UPMC Jameson. Born in Ellwood City on December 7, 1947, Everett was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Wilson Wimer.  He married the former Nancy Wolfe on October 26, 1995.  Everett retired from Clem’s Trailer Sales in Franklin Township where he worked as a mechanic.  He and his wife Nancy bred, raised and showed long haired dachshunds and they were the proud owners of four champions.  Everett enjoyed watching drag racing and he raced when he was younger. Mark Fellner, 64, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. Mark was born in Ellwood City to the late John F. and Camilla A. (DeCampli) Fellner on September 4, 1956. He had graduated from the Lawrence County Area Vocational Technical School with the class of 1974. He then worked at the Aetna Standard Engineering Co. until he enlisted with the U.S. Airforce in 1976. Karan Marie “B-Bo” Sokol, 48, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Butler Memorial Hospital. Karan was born on May 8, 1972 in Detroit, MI to Jean (Cavallaro) Sokol. After moving to Ellwood City she became a member of the St. Elias Romanian Church. For many years she was tutored by the Walmo School which is located in New Castle. Marjorie M. Buchanan, 94, of Wampum passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Avalon Place following an extended illness. Born February 21, 1926 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late John N. and Verna Fairbanks Knight. She was married to the late Wendell J. Buchanan who passed on October 9, 1970. Marjorie was a an active member of First Assembly of God Church in New Castle. She retired from K-Mart after 30 years of service as a cashier. Judy L. McDowell, 74, of Ellwood City passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at her residence. Death was unexpected. Born March 9, 1946 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Ken and Dorothy Parker McDowell. Judy was a project manager for Lockheed Martin in California for over 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting and scrap booking. She loved her dogs. Gerald J. “Jerry” Matus, 81, of Wampum, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence. Born June 2, 1939 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John and Alferetta “Freddie” Aloe Matus. Jerry was the owner and operator of Matus Service Center and Auto Sales in Wampum.
