Carol J. Challis, 80, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024 at the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople. Carol was born in Ellwood City on January 26th, 1944 to the late Lester and Edna (Blum) Boots. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1961 and the Wiley Hill Baptist Church. Carol’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Josephine Shubert, 103, of Glendale California (formerly of Wampum) passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. Born February 28, 1921 in Renton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Jordano Mento. She was married to Frank Shubert when he passed away on July 27, 2000. Born October 11, 1986 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Randal Cunningham and Jean Diegdio and the stepdaughter of Diane Himes Cunningham. She married Jonathan Wawrzynski on September 19, 2009. Ronald W. Curtis, 69, of Ellwood City passed away in the ER of UPMC Jameson Hospital on Friday, September 6, 2024. Born in Ellwood City on November 14, 1954, Ron was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy Swogger Curtis.  Ron was a machinist and had worked at the Ellwood Forge and retired from Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine Co in Hermitage.  A 1973 graduate of Riverside High School, Ron was a Steeler, Wrestling and Harley Davidson fan.  Ron enjoyed traveling with friends and family on his Harley Davidson. Richard “Rich” Bofinger, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2024. He spent his childhood in Punxsutawney with his father, Albert Bofinger. Richard always spoke fondly of several uncles, aunts and cousins who assisted in his upbringing. Following high school he served in the US Air Force for four years.
