Jones, Sturgeon Earn All-Tournament; Wolverine Basketball Teams Each Split Games In Weekend Tournaments

Delaney Sturgeon scored a game-high 20 points and Kayla Jones added 19 points as Ellwood City defeated Shenango 59-23 in its second game of the Shenango Christmas Tournament. For their efforts each were named to the All-Tournament Team. Caitlin Kreitzer finished with 14 points and Elise Sturgeon finished with six points Saturday to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolverines. The girls were stymied by Laurel Friday night, losing 64-34 in the opening game of the tournament. The Lady Wolverines are now 5-4 Overall (1-2 Class 3A-1) on the season and will next host Mohawk on Thursday, January 2nd…

PHOTO: Ten Wolverines Receive All-Conference Honors

On Sunday, ten Ellwood City Wolverine players were honored at the MAC Coaches Association Awards Banquet and received their All-Conference Honors. Elijah Palmer-McCane was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year. Palmer-McCane, Evan Twedell, Luciano Gagric, and Chris Smiley all received unanimous selections for their respective positions. The Ellwood City Wolverines football team earned is first unbeaten regular season in 80 years, first conference title since 1997, and advanced to the WPIAL semifinals for the first time since 1987. Mayor Court Presents Proclamation To Ellwood City Football Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court recently presented a proclamation to the 2024 Ellwood City Wolverines Football Team for one of the most successful seasons in the history of the school The team finished with a remarkable 10-1 record in 2024, finishing the regular season undefeated and securing the MAC Section Title. In addition to their regular season success, the Wolverines made a deep run in the 2A W.P.I.A.L. playoffs advancing to the semifinals but ultimately losing to South Park. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Outlasts Riverside In Low Scoring Affair, Win 35-32

Aaron Lake scored 12 points and Chuckie Schweinsberg connected on two critical fourth quarter 3-pointers to lead Ellwood City to a 35-32 rivalry victory over Riverside Tuesday evening at Lincoln High School. Lake scored six points in the fourth quarter that saw the Wolverines storm back for the victory. Ellwood City trailed 15-11 at halftime and 25-19 after three quarters. Mayor Court Presents Proclamation To EC Boys Golf Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court recently presented a proclamation to Ellwood City Boy’s Golf Team on their outstanding and heroic 2024 season. The mayor proclaimed Monday, December 16, 2024 as the ‘Ellwood City Boy’s Golf Team Day’ in the Borough. The team was undefeated Section Champions, earning its first undefeated season since 1975. The team captured their 20th Section Title in the Lincoln High School Golf Program history.  The Ellwood City Golf Team also advanced to the WPIAL semifinals for the first time since 2020 and placed 4th out of the 10-team semifinals field, Mayor Anthony J. Lady Panthers Best Rival Ellwood City 54-50

The Lady Panthers bested rival Ellwood City 54-50 Monday evening at Riverside High School. Camryn Friello connected on four 3-pointers, including two in a pivotal fourth quarter, en route to her game-high 16 points to lead Riverside. Riverside entered the final quarter trailing by two points, but used a six point cushion in the frame to come out ahead for the victory. Friello nailed two of her 3-pointers in the final frame and Emma Stockton added four of her 10 points in the 4th quarter to help pace the Lady Panthers (5-3 Overall, 2-0 Section 3A-1).
