Film Producer & Ellwood Native To Have Film Shown At Strand Theatre Memorial Day Weekend

A hybrid documentary/narrative film titled “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission” will be shown Memorial Day weekend at the Strand Theater in Zelienople. Los Angeles-based filmmaker and Ellwood City native Chris Johnson, along with production partner Mariana Tosca, directed the 90-minute film that was first released in February 2021. EllwoodCity.org published a Q&A Segment on the film and release in May 2021. The film, which took 10 years to complete, honors Johnson’s great-uncle, 1st Lt. 2023 Primary Election Unofficial Results: Ellwood City Borough Council; Ellwood City and Riverside School Boards

Unofficial results from yesterday’s May 16, 2023 primary have been posted. Lawrence County According Lawrence County’s website, there were 13,266 ballots cast in Lawrence County. Of those, 6,434 were Democratic and 6,832 were Republican. The total voter turnout was 27.27% with 30.17% being Democratic and 25% being Republican. Click here for full unofficial results. Aliya Garroway says she needs $600,000 to make her idea become a reality. The Lincoln High School senior pitched her business plan for a “high-ceilinged” indoor baseball and softball complex in Lawrence County to be called “No Off-Season” to Ellwood City business leaders, and to community college educators and administrators April 28 as one of eight students to complete the 2022-2023 Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship program. Ellwood City Borough Council Approves Dunkin’ Facility, Drive Thru

Ellwood City Borough Council approved requests by Fifth and Spring, LLC in regards to a Dunkin’ fast food restaurant at the intersection of Fifth Street and Spring Avenue. Council unanimously approved the 2,060 square foot facility as well as a drive thru contingent on the following conditions: No egress permitted onto Fifth Street from the Dunkin’ parking lot; right hand and left-hand turn from the drive thru lane onto Fifth Street; And moving a curbside pickup spot to the middle of the parking lot. REMINDER: Mayor Court Beautification Award Nominations Underway

Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing beautification awards for Ellwood City. Nominations are now being accepted by dropping the request off at the Mayor’s office in the Municipal Building on Lawrence Avenue or by calling Mayor Court at 724-824-7629. Nominations will be accepted beginning May 10, 2023 and program will end on the 1st of August. Western PA Soap Box Derby, a fun family event, is Saturday June 3rd, 2023 in Ambridge, PA on 14th Street.
