Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) Program To Add Free Veterinary Care During July Training in Ellwood City

During Ellwood City’s Borough Council meeting, Borough Manager Kevin Swogger announced that the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program set to setup training in Ellwood City in July will add veterinary care to its lineup of free medical services. IRT is a Department of Defense (DoD) military training opportunity, exclusive to the United States and its territories, that delivers joint training opportunities to increase deployment readiness. Simultaneously, IRT provides key services (health care, construction, transportation, and cybersecurity) with lasting benefits for communities. Mayor Court Speaks At Rotary Club Meeting

Mayor Anthony J. REMINDER: Riverside High School Senior Citizen Concert

The Riverside High School Student Council will be hosting their Annual Senior Citizen Program on Wednesday, December 18th from 12:00 until 2:15. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, December 4th The event is free to all senior citizens and will consist of the High School Band, Choir and elementary choir students performing in the High School Auditorium followed by a Holiday Dinner. Riverside Christmas Angel Drive Looking For Gift Card Donations This Holiday Season

The Riverside Christmas Angel Program is trying something new this year! The drive is looking for gift card donations in any denomination to help support the many local Riverside families in need. They can be gift cards for groceries, clothing, stores, restaurants, and anything in between. Cubs Scouts Hosting Winter Coat Drive

The Arrow of Light (Fifth Grade) Den of the Ellwood City Pack 806 Cub Scouts is hosting a winter coat drive. They are collecting gently used men’s, women’s and children’s coats which the boys will deliver to the New Castle City Rescue Mission in December for distribution. Collection bins have been placed at Ellwood Ice on Lawrence Avenue, the Ellwood City Municipal Building, and Ellwood City Public Library. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: Tyler Good, 24, of Cranberry Twp is charged with Theft after an incident occurring during the dates of 5/23/24 and 6/30/24. According to a criminal complaint, police spoke to the victim on September 19th at approximately 12:37 p.m. and the victim explained that he contracted Good to replace his retaining wall and that they had come to an agreement to have the wall finished within five days. The victim paid Good $9,400 for materials to begin the job on May 23rd and an additional $3,600 on June 5th after Good would finish. Good had failed to complete the job…

ECASD Board of Directors Approve Retirement of District Superintendent

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors reluctantly passed a motion to accept the retirement of District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley during Thursday evening’s regular meeting. As the motion was made, there wasn’t an easy second. Board President Jennifer Tomon said she is happy for Shipley but sad for the district. Shipley will continue to serve as superintendent until June 30, 2025. Shipley said serving the district and students has been a pleasure. Congratulations to the two, top place prize winners of the 2024 EllwoodCity.org Halloween Costume Contest!! The grand prize winner of the EllwoodCity.org contest was 3-year-old Lincoln Lumley who dressed as Oompa Loompa and gained over 290 Likes to earn the first place cash prize. Our second place winner was the tandem of 5-year-old Lucas and 3-year-old Liam Brest who teamed up to go as Slinkey from Toy Story.
