Bernstine Announces Free Shredding Event for Constituents in the 8th Legislative District HARRISBURG – In an effort to bring greater awareness to identity theft crime, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) will host a Shredding Event on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department. LHS Class of 1954 Celebrates 69th Reunion With Cookout

The Lincoln High School Class of 1954 celebrated their 69th Reunion with an Ellwood city 4th July Cookout. The event was held on Saturday, July 1st, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Connequenessing Country Club Indoor patio. Red, White and Blue decorated signs designed and provided by Ilene Gardner and her family directed all arrivals. Chairman, John Tino, greeted the visitors and Pudue LaCava presented each one with name tags. Ilene Gardner photographed each classmate and their guest. Councilman George Celli was recently awarded the Carol Sambol Award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs for his 25 year dedication serving on Ellwood City Borough Council. The award is presented to honor faithful and effective service. Celli was presented the award by Sgt. Mike McBride of the Ellwood City Police Department.  McBride was the first officer who Celli voted to hire during his time on Council. Applications For ECCHF Scholarships Now Available

The Ellwood City Community Health Foundation (ECCHF) will issue scholarships each year to individuals who enroll in higher education to pursue a career in the medical field. The individual needs to be a resident of either Ellwood City, Lawrence County, or Beaver County, Pennsylvania. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

HARASSMENT: On June 16th at approximately 4:23 p.m., PA State Police New Castle investigated a report of harassment via electronic device. A 62-year-old male victim who resides on Ellwood Road, Wayne Township reported to have received threatening text messages from a known individual. According to the report, the message were sent for no legitimate purpose, and caused alarm to the victim and his family. A 35-year-old male from Edinburg, PA is listed as an arrestte in the public information report. The investigation is ongoing. Bernstine Announces State Funding for Workforce Development in Lawrence County

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) announced the West Central Workforce Development Board will receive a $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The funding will support a West Central Workforce Development Board program to provide job training to young adults who were formerly incarcerated. The Community Connections program links these young adults to youth re-entry project partners, who will determine skill sets and training gaps, the need for supportive services, and training options. Vogel: Senate Acts to Protect Sexually Exploited Children, Human Trafficking Victims

HARRISBURG – Continuing to stand up for the safety and protection of children in the commonwealth, Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr (R-47) and his fellow Senate colleagues approved legislation yesterday to ensure sexually exploited children who are human trafficking victims always have full access to appropriate services and support. Under current Pennsylvania law, any minor that is exploited for commercial sex must identify their third-party perpetrator to be considered a victim of human trafficking, unless their purchaser is charged as a trafficker. Reagan Boariu won the 2023 Little Miss Firecracker title this past weekend at the Ellwood City Festival. The 8-year-old garnered the crown during the 6th Annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant held on Friday, June 30th at the Folino Stage in Ewing Park.  The pageant is part of the annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival. Reagan is the daughter of Eric and April Boariu. She dazzled the judges with her patriotic tutu ensemble and bubbly personality. She did a winning curtesy at the judges on stage.
