POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

PUBLIC REPRIMAND: An Ellwood City nail salon was fined and given a public reprimand by the Pennsylvania Department of State for what it called grossly incompetent actions. Nails Spa, located in the Northern Star shopping plaza on Route 288 in Franklin Township, was given a $6,600 civil penalty and ordered to stop possessing methyl methacrylate (MMA) and metal credo tools. MMA is a resin commonly used in artificial nail products, dentistry and the production of plastics. Credo tools are used to remove callused skin. ECASD Board of Directors Elect Officers, Learn about Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors held its election of officers for 2025 during Thursday’s combined meeting. Jennifer Tomon will again serve as board president for 2025. She was nominated by Director Jean Biehls and had unanimous support from the board. She was the only candidate nominated. Jean Biehls will again serve as board vice president for 2025. She was nominated by Director Kevin Boariu and like Tomon received unanimous support. The board also announced and approved meeting dates for 2025. Air Force Col. Nicole S. Ellwood City Area School District Among Many To Receive Safety, Mental Health Grants

HARRISBURG – Ellwood City Area School District will receive $130,425.00 in grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School safety and Security Committee (SSSC). The Hall of Fame Committee of the Ellwood City Area School District is pleased to announce the incoming class of the Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame. This class includes five individuals and one athletic team. Together, they make up the third class to be installed into the Hall of Fame. The honorees are: Mr. Stephen Johns, Class of 2010 After graduation, Stephen attended Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree in Business and Finance and played on the Fighting Irish hockey team for four seasons. ‘Let There Be Lights’ Weekend Of Events Starts Friday

Kick off your Holiday’s with a series of events hosted by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce. Zoning Board to Consider Exemption For Proposed Girls Softball Field

As Ewing Park residents continue to oppose a girls softball field at the Ewing Park School property, the school district will make a special exemption request to implement the facility to the zoning hearing board during a 10 a.m. meeting on Dec 4. The meeting will be held at the borough building. Current zoning allows for a park or playground but not a sports field. Vehicle Stolen From West End Home, Police Searching For Suspect

On Friday, November 22nd at approximately 11:20 p.m. Ellwood City Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 1200 block of Lawrence Avenue. Upon further investigation it was determined that an unknown actor broke into a residence, took a set of keys to a vehicle then stole the vehicle crashing it into another vehicle then fleeing the scene on foot. Officers further located multiple other vehicles that seemed to be rummaged through in the area. Mayor Court to Give Wolverines Football Team Proclamation

Mayor Anthony Court gave high praise to this year’s Ellwood City Wolverines football team. During the Ellwood City Borough Council meeting, Court said, “I want to recognize the Ellwood City football team for an amazing season.” Court said he would like to give the team a proclamation. Council as a whole agreed on the proclamation, and also acknowledged the Wolverine’s historic season.
