Holiday Open House

Market Place on Main will be hosting a Holiday Open House on Friday November 4 from 10a.m. to 8p.m. and 5 from 10a.m. to 6p.m. In preparation for the festivities the Market Place will be closed from October 25-November 3.


Wampum Area Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the “44th” Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. It will be held on Saturday December 3 at 1p.m. This event is sponsored by the Wampum America Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Woman’s Club and Wampum Area Business Association. Gibbons announces $225,000 grant for Camp Allegheny improvements

HARRISBURG, Oct. 24 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, announced the Salvation Army will be able to make $1.4 million in improvements to Camp Allegheny, Wayne Township, Lawrence County, thanks to a $225,000 Commonwealth Financing Authority award that Gibbons secured this week. “The camp plays host for adventures of all ages, children to senior citizens. The camp is a vital part of our community and I know this state investment in camp activities will provide fun-filled opportunities, spiritual growth and lifetime memories,” Gibbons said. Lincoln High School will be performing The Little Mermaid as their musical this year. The high school was teetering between choosing The Little Mermaid or the Addams Family for the musical this year, but The Little Mermaid prevailed and the overall feeling about the final choice is excitement. Corona D’Italia Lodge’s October Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 officers and members celebrated Columbus Day with their annual dinner on Wednesday, October 5 at 5p.m. at the Wolverine Restaurant. Lincoln High School celebrated their upcoming play, The Little Mermaid, by hosting an “Under the Sea Extravaganza” last Saturday so kids could meet Ariel and all of her friends! The members of cast were dressed in character which provided an opportunity for children to take photos with their favorite characters. The cast also signed autographs in character. Police Issues Discussed at the Council Meeting

Several police-force related questions and comments were brought up at this weeks council meeting. Foremost, Judy Dici, one of the council members, asked when the Borough plans to hire a part time officer to help remedy the overtime hours some of the officers are currently getting; according to what was discussed at the meeting, the Borough is still reviewing applications and remain active in the process of hiring a part time officer.
