Ellwood City Council May Still Consider More Changes to Ellwood City Electric

Ellwood City council members have met more than half of the seven suggestions they received in a letter about improving Ellwood City Electric Department from Rep. Aaron Bernstine and state Sen. Elder Vogel Jr., after Monday nights council meeting. Ellwood City Council voted yes Monday to extend the delinquency period on bills from the borough-run department from 12 days to 16 days, to eliminate the $5 fee for delinquency notices and drop the penalty rate from 5 percent to 2.5 percent. Bernstine Applauds Borough’s Changes to Ellwood City Electric

ELLWOOD CITY – Following months of negotiations and legislative intervention, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today praised Ellwood City Borough Council for adopting changes to Ellwood City Electric, which he said will ensure consumer protection, price stability and increased transparency for residents. The actions came after Bernstine and Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47) issued a letter to council members last month urging immediate implementation of several consumer-based changes. Bernstine’s legislation requiring the borough to adopt changes passed the House in April and was awaiting consideration by the Senate. Ellwood City Code Officer Requests Bagster’s be Removed

The Borough of Ellwood City has received numerous complaints about the “Green Bagster/ Dumpsters.” Remember that you must have them removed after you fill them. You get the “Bagsters” at various locations for $29.99. Removal is about $145.00. You must have them removed as it constitutes a buildup of trash and you may be subject to legal action. The International Property Maintenance Code of 2012 covers this under three sections: 302.1 All exterior property must be maintained in a Clean-Safe-Sanitary condition. 302.5 Rodent Harborage. 308.1 Accumulation of Rubbish or Garbage. Monaca Man Charged In Ellwood City Thefts

According to police reports, Shawn Patrick Glenn, 22, of Monaca, PA has been charged with theft, theft from vehicles, loitering and prowling, possession of instruments of crime, fleeing police and resisting arrest after an incident last week in Ellwood City’s North Side. Ellwood City police received a call overnight on Friday, August 17 at approximately 2:00 am regarding a male dressed in camouflage breaking into vehicles in the area of Hazel Avenue.  The suspect was originally being pursued by two men who said they saw him in the bed of a pickup truck one of them owned. 7th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up This Weekend

The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance is organizing the Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up on Saturday. Teams will be dispersed along the Connoquenessing Creek — Conni — starting at McKim Way, across the creek from Riverside High School, and ending at Rock Point, where the Conni meets the Beaver River. Registration for the clean up day begins at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 220 Fountain Ave. in Ellwood City. From 8 to 9 a.m., teams will be assigned, supplies and snacks will be dispersed and a safety talk will be conducted. Teams typically start removing garbage from the creek around 10:30 a.m….

BC3 Golf Outing Draws 110, Raises Record $90K to Support Student Scholarships

Adult Dance at Ewing Park Pool August 27

The Ellwood City Council Parks and Recreation Committee is having a Adult Dance Pool Party at Ewing Park on Monday, August 27, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme of the party is oldies and DJ Franko will be playing music from the 50’s 60’s and 70’s.
