Ellwood City to Keep Parking Meters … for Now

Council voted to table a motion to eliminate parking meters on Lawrence and Bell avenues and Fifth Street. Council was divided on the issue during the October 21 meeting with George Celli, Michelle Lamenza, and James Barry voting to table and Rob Brough, Lisa Guerrera, and Judith Dici voting to move forward with the motion. Councilwoman Marilyn Mancini was not in attendance, leaving Mayor Anthony Court to tie-break the vote. Council President Judith Dici, brought up the idea at an agenda-setting meeting October 15. 10th Annual 2019 Ellwood City Oktoberfest Recap

The 10th Annual 2019 Ellwood City Oktoberfest was held in beautiful Ewing Park on Saturday, October 5th. The event is a group effort of several organizations in Ellwood City to benefit the community and its members. At the event were over 100 craft beers and over a dozen homebrewers to sample, great food, live music by Wine and Spirits, a huge silent auction, games, prizes and a bake sale benefiting the Ellwood City Library. Surviving the Holidays: Coping With Grief During The Holidays

EC Historical Society Monthly Meeting Recap

The regular monthly meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society was held Monday, October 14. Everett Bleakney, president welcomed those present and announced the Historical Society mission is to collect, protect, preserve and make the Ellwood City Area History accessible. Lois Liebendorfer, secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting, and Charles Brown presented the financial report. Andy Kindle, ways and means chairman,  reported on the Ellwood City Fall Fest program.  He explained that the program was a huge success.  Many youth entered the coloring page contest.  The trolley was exhibited and drew much attention. Council to Discuss Parking Meters, Amendment to Hospital Zoning Ordinance

The Ellwood City Council is set to vote on two proposals during it’s October 21 voting meeting. One is the amendment to the Ellwood City Medical Center zoning ordinance to add facilities and residences included in a continuum of care entity to the definition of health services. There will be a public hearing at 5:45 regarding this amendment. Also on the agenda will be a consideration to remove parking meters in the borough. Borough Announcements: Electric Department Expands Hours, Meeting Schedule, Scam Prevention

Ellwood City Borough Council made a few announcements during the Oct 15 agenda meeting: Electric Window to Open on Fridays Borough Manager David Allen said the electric department window now will be open on Fridays. This addition rounds out hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. He said the hours were added to give residents a better chance to pay bills. North Sewickley Presbyterian Church Hosting ‘Trunk Or Treat’

North Sewickley Presbyterian Church is hosting a “Trunk Or Treat” event on Sunday, October 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a safer way for children can trick or treat with car trunks decorated in our parking lot. Along with the decorated trunks, we will have a few games for them. According to the church, currently there are about 18 cars ready to decorate their trunks and hand out candy.
