Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities For Week of November 4

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. Senate Approves Vogel Bill Promoting Telemedicine in Pennsylvania

On October 30, the Senate approved legislation introduced by Senator Elder Vogel (R-Beaver) aimed at promoting telemedicine in Pennsylvania as a way to overcome barriers to quality patient care created by distance and reduce the costs of those services. Senate Bill 857 specifically defines telemedicine as “the delivery of health care services provided through telecommunications technology to a patient by a healthcare practitioner who is at a different location.” It also establishes guidelines regarding who can provide telemedicine services, and provides clarity regarding insurance company reimbursement for those services. “Telemedicine can help patients get the care they need. Ellwood City Cocaine Dealer Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to 15 years (180 months) in prison and six years of supervised release on his conviction of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and distribution of cocaine, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Taurean Potter, age 34, of Ellwood City Pennsylvania. Hygiene Helper Container Introduce At Giant Eagle

A new container introduced at Ellwood City Giant Eagle is aimed to help provide hygiene products for kids in need. Gina Morini Felouzis, of Mario’s Giant Eagle, in Ellwood City, and Riverside Lions club president, Chip Campbell, introduced the new contained stationed within Giant Eagle to collect donated hygiene products. The donated items will be distributed among area students in need. Campbell hopes people will treat the container like ‘Toys for Tots,’ only for hygiene products that, although not recognized, have a great bearing on student’s performance in the classroom. Bernstine Invites Veterans in 10th District to Breakfast

HARRISBURG – To show appreciation to veterans in the 10th District for their service to the country, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 1. The breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Koppel Fire Hall, 5525 Fifth Ave. in Koppel. It’s that time of the year again, EllwoodCity.org will be holding our annual Halloween Costume Contest.  Each year we have received dozens of entries – now let’s make this year even more spooky! Submissions begin on October 30th and go on through end-of-business hours on Friday, November 1st. All submitted photos will appear on EllwoodCity.org’s Facebook page on Monday, November 5 as a photo gallery. Mayor Court Announces Weekly Radio Show

Mayor Anthony Court announced this week an upcoming radio show on local channel 107.3 WXED. Court’s Weekly Community Update Radio Show on WXED 107.3 will air three times weekly. Oktoberfest Volunteers – Going Above And Beyond

Ellwood City, PA. A check presentation dinner meeting was hosted by the Wolves Club on October 23 at Carusone’s Catering Hall in Ellwood City. Profits from the highly successful Oktoberfest event were distributed to the Lions Club, Rotary Club and the ALS Association of Western PA by chairman Denny Boariu.
