Lincoln High Senior Receives The Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship

Emily Borroni, a senior at Lincoln High School was awarded the Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship on May 24th at the organization’s monthly meeting. Emily, the daughter of Jeff and Stephanie Borroni of Ellwood City, was presented with the award by President John Pansera. The $1,000.00 scholarship is presented to a graduation senior and member of the parish who provides superior service to her parish, community and school. Lincoln High School Class of 1951 Holds 70th Reunion

On May 20th, the 70th Reunion of the Class of 1951 had their Luncheon. There were 256 in the graduating class. There are 80 former students still with us today and they will be turning 88 this year. There were 15 people in attendance. Eleanor Chima Irwin came from Pittsburgh, Bob Evans came from Greensburg, and Dr. Ray Colavincenzo came from Pittsburgh. DATE CHANGE: Lincoln High School Seniors Set To Celebrate 2021 Commencement

UPDATES: June 3rd, 2:21 p.m. – According to the Lincoln High School guidance offices, the commencement ceremony schedule for Thursday evening has been cancelled & postponed until Monday, June 7, 2021. The Lincoln High School graduating Class of 2021 will receive their diplomas Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.  The commencement will take place at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. Lincoln High School will be graduating 128 students this year. Among the 128 students, 17 will be graduating with highest honors. Riverside To Start Summer Meal Program

The Riverside cafeteria staff will begin the summer meal program the week of June 14, 2021. Riverside will offer a 5-day package for pick-up every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. The pick-up location is expected to be at the Middle School. However, the location may change to the elementary school due to construction projects throughout the district. Food service staff will pack bags on Mondays and distribute on Tuesdays. The package will consist of 5 lunch meals, 5 breakfast meals, and a 1/2 gallon of white milk. The summer meal service is free for all district children age 18 and under….

VIDEO: Ongoing Investigation Into An Early Morning Shooting On Mercer Road

According to multiple news reports, a man was shot early Tuesday morning in Ellwood City, Lawrence County. The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. on Mercer Road, near Cutoff Street. Police had Mercer Road blocked off with crime scene tape and at least a dozen evidence markers were placed on the road. An SUV that had its windows shot out was towed away. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: New Castle Police are investigating theft incident on North Western Drive in Wayne Township. A 72-year-old Ellwood City man sent an unidentified individual money online over a period of 11-12 months. According to the report, the currency sent to the suspect via Bitcoin is valued at $300,000.00. Police are continuing to investigate. The Beaver Patrol Unit responded to an incident in Darlington Boro. A woman, age 74 was deceived by a male phone caller and gave him her personal bank account information. $2,000.00 was stolen from the woman’s account. New Borough Trash Contract Anticipated To Begin July 1

In a statement made available by the Borough of Ellwood City on Wednesday, officials now anticipate the new trash contract to begin July 1, 2021. A press release reads as follows: The new Ellwood City Trash Contract is anticipated to begin July 1, 2021. The trash cart manufacturer has given Valley Waste an estimated delivery time of mid-June. When the carts arrive, Valley Waste and Ellwood City Public Works will work together to deliver the carts to customer addresses. The new contract will start on the first of the following month.
