POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

SIMPLE ASSAULT: Michael Miller, 74, of Ellwood City and Joel Thomas, 48, of Wampum are each charged with Simple Assault after an incident occurring on October 4th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a physical domestic between Miller and his son, Thomas. Police spoke to both parties who relayed that Miller had arrived at the residence on Harriet St in Wampum to confront Thomas about his argument and physical conflict with Thomas’ wife. Both parties had agreed to fight outside, resulting in minor injuries to both parties before the fight…

Area Churches Requesting Community Support for FREE Christmas Day Dinner

You don’t have to be alone or hungry on Christmas. First United Methodist Church and Wurtemburg United Methodist Church are starting to plan a FREE Christmas Day Dinner to be hosted by The Ellwood City Ministerium on Christmas Day. The event aims to provide our neighbors with an opportunity for fellowship and a hot, sit-down meal on Christmas Day; at no cost to participants. New Little Free Library Brings Big Community Spirit to Ellport

A new chapter is opening—literally—in Ellport, with the debut of the borough’s very own Little Free Library, a charming, book-filled box ready to spark curiosity, conversation, and community connection. The beautifully painted library, perched at Ellport Playground Park (Sheeler Field area), is hard to miss. Borough Manager Completes The Certified Borough Officials Program

Ellwood City’s Borough Manager, Kevin Swogger, recently completed The Certified Borough Officials Program. I feel the training and courses I have completed help me to be a better leader/manager for the community and the Borough,” Swogger said. “The classes range from on-line to in classroom and cover a wide range of areas such as administrative, management, planning, zoning, and code enforcement to name a few. It also includes Annual Conferences and Newly Elected Municipal Officials (NEMO) Boot Camp.” The Certified Borough Officials (CBO) designation is a voluntary, educational achievement program for borough officials. Ride Ellsworth The Trolley To Christmas In The Park This Weekend

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society is sponsoring trolley rides to Christmas in the Park from 6:30 to 8:30 on Friday and Saturday evenings December 12th and 13th. Ellsworth the Trolley will load at the History Center, 310 5th Street for the narrated round trip. The museum will be open for those waiting between tours. Donations will be accepted with equal shares of the proceeds going to the Chamber of Commerce selected recipients for each evening and the Historical Society. Ellsworth will be towed by Shawn Plassmeyer of Plassmeyer Towing who is donating his services for this event.

2025 Halloween Costume Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to the two top place prize winners of the 2025 EllwoodCity.org Halloween Costume Contest!! The grand prize winner of the EllwoodCity.org contest was 2-year-old Cole Kloos who dressed as a monkey in a claw machine and gained over 400 Likes to earn the first place cash prize. Our second place winner was brothers Bryce and Cayden Mlye who dressed up 1990’s wrestling stars Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage to earn 375 Likes for our second place finish.
