BC3 To Introduce Three STEM Programs This Fall

Butler County Community College’s three new programs this fall are within its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics division and include two intended to lead to a doctor of pharmacy degree from Duquesne University. Expanded Duquesne University-track programs in biological science and in chemistry will join existing BC3 transfer programs in biological science and in chemistry and bring BC3’s associate degree selections in STEM in the 2022-2023 academic year to 15. The Ellwood City Area School District will be hosting a ‘Back To School’ event featuring a free pasta dinner and speech by world renowned speaker, Josh Shipp. The FREE event will be held on Monday, August 22nd at the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Coming To Ewing Park

The Ellwood City American Legion Post 157 is hosting the Vietnam Moving Wall in Ewing Park on August 18th through August 22nd. The event is free to the public. The Moving Wall will be located in the same area of Ewing Park as the Festival. Wayne Township Offering Extended Hours For Tax Discount Period

The Wayne Township Tax Collector has announced additional hours during a “Discount Period” for Wayne Township residents to pay their property taxes. During the Discount Period only, Wayne Township Tax Office will have extended hours for ‘in-person payment’. Ellwood City Area School District Provides Construction Update

In advance of the back to school season, the Ellwood City Area School District has provided an update to various construction projects on school grounds. According to the district website, the update is to provide the community with current information regarding the capital improvement projects that are underway throughout Ellwood City Area School District.  The focus of the projects is to create a safer learning environment for our students and staff. El Canelo Moving Its Ellwood City Location

According to information posted on its Facebook.com page Monday afternoon, El Canelo Authentic Mexican Restaurant is relocating its Ellwood City restaurant. El Canelo is planning to move to 225 Fifth Street, Ellwood City. The restaurant will be closed at its current Lawrence Avenue location Monday and Tuesday to aid in its move to its new location. Sainato: More Than $3 Million Awarded To Fund Lawrence County Early Education Programs

Lawrence County early education programs are receiving more than $3 million in funding to bolster resources for area preschoolers, state Rep. Chris Sainato announced today. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: Micah Ndungu, 20, of Ellwood City, is charged with Theft and Receiving Stolen Property after an incident on July 23rd. According to the criminal complaint, Ellwood City Police were called to Fifth Street for a report of theft. The victim reported he was attempting to sell an iPhone 11 Pro on Facebook Marketplace for $400.00 and was meeting the purchasing party at McDonald’s. The victim stated that at approximately 9:13 p.m. the alleged purchaser of the phone grabbed it and ran away. Officers paroled the area but unable to locate the individual. Franklin Township Police & Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual National Night Out Tuesday evening at the Franklin Plaza in Ellwood City. The event featured kids activities, fire safety, prize giveaways, and food vendors. National Night Out began in 1984 in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Kindergarten is such an exciting year full of new experiences for both our students and their families! Prior to the first official day of school for the 2022-2023 year, Riverside Beaver County School District has announced Kindergarten Teach Assignments and Kindergarten Orientation.
