Class of ’57 To Hold Informational Luncheon

The Lincoln High School Class of 1957 will hold an informal gathering and luncheon Monday, August 23, at Vinny’s Restaurant on Beaver Ave. in Ellwood City. Classmates and guests will gather beginning at noon.  A buffet, at $30.00 per person, will follow. Checks for reservations should be made payable to Vinny’s Restaurant and sent to Nancy Pietrandrea, P.O. Box 376, Koppel, Pa. 16136. Franklin Township To Host 8th Annual National Night Out Event

Come on down! Franklin Township will be holding their 8th Annual National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Franklin Plaza in Ellwood City. There will be free activities for children, fire safety, CPR training, prize giveaways, and food vendors. There will be approximately 40 vendors for the event. According to Shannon Schlosser, township secretary, there will be firetrucks, police cars, ambulance service, two face painters, a balloon twister, an obstacle course and giant slide, CPR instruction, free blood pressure screenings, hearing screening, and a dunk tank. 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament To Begin Tonight

BATTER UP! The 70th Ellwood City Little League Tournament will begin on Tuesday night at Freidhoff Field. The tournament, which began in 1952, is the second oldest Little League tournament in the country next to the Little League World Series which is in its’ 74th season. Ellwood City will meet Neshannock at 6:00 PM and Riverside will meet Shenango at 8:00 PM. Ellwood City has won the last two titles with a 10-8 victory over Riverside last season and a 4-2 win over Mars in 2019. Ellwood City has the most championships with 14. Franklin Community Park Announces Summer Story Time

Time for some tales. Franklin Community Park will be hosting Summer Story Time for children and parents to come do story time together. The event is once a week and will take place every Thursday starting at 1:30 p.m. There already have been a few story times but the event will continue Thursday, July 15, July 22, and with the last story time being on Thursday, July 29th. Master Gardeners Host Annual Garden Tour

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are hosting their Fourth Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 18th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The tour highlights four area gardens, which can be toured at your own pace. Master Gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions. Each garden will provide an opportunity to view different styles of gardens, a chance to talk to the creators of these gardens and get their input on their gardening experiences, and talk to Penn State Master Gardeners from Lawrence County. Word Alive Church Hosting Vacation Bible School

All are welcome in this place. Word Alive Church will be hosting Mystery Island Vacation Bible School that began on Monday July 12 and it will run until July 16th. The Bible School will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and is open to children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Children will partake in a daily Bible lesson, fun crafts, exciting games, and snacks. The Bible School will be taking place at Word Alive Church. The Church is located at 124 Scenic Hill Blvd.

Reed’s Services Presents 1st Annual “Dog Days Of Summer” Event

Come out and enjoy the dog days of summer! Reed’s Pet & Livestock Feed & Supplies will be hosting its first annual “Dog Days Of Summer” fundraising event next month. The event will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Ewing Park. “We’re really looking forward to all of Ellwood coming out to support the K9 Unit.
