Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s Club to Host Craft/Vendor Show

It’s a first for the Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s Club. First Annual Craft/Vendor Show that is. The group will be hosting the event on Saturday, December 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wayne Township Fire Hall. The objective of the club is to develop the educational, civic, and social interests of its members and to advance the welfare of the community. Funds raised from the show will help benefit the club’s efforts to provide two annual scholarships. Backyard Composting & Rain Barrel Workshop Planned

The Lawrence County Conservation District and the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department are partnering on a workshop about backyard composting and stormwater management. The class is set for Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It will be held at the Albert P. Gettings Annex (the former church) across the street from the Lawrence County Courthouse.  Attendees can enter through the doors facing the courthouse on Milton Street. Sign Ups Being Accepted for Upcoming Wampum Christmas Parade

Sign your kids up for treats! The Wampum Area 49th Annual Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 4, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee is still accepting sign-ups for treat bags. Following the Parade on December 4th, Santa Claus will distribute treat bags to children in the Wampum gymnasium. COVID-19 protocol will be followed. Treat bags are free to Wampum area children. Saxon Club to Host Steel City Comedy Tour; Public Welcome

Ready to laugh until your ribs hurt? Look no further than the Ellwood City Saxon’s Club’s Comedy Night featuring The Steel City Comedy Tour. And you don’t have to be a member to attend as the side splitter is open to the public. The event will be held on Saturday, November 13th, at the club on 901 Millview Street. Blood Drive to Honor the Life of Enon Valley Man

The annual Richard Hogue Replenishment Blood Drive will be held this week. Hogue, who was 28, was murdered on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, he resided in Enon Valley, worked for Nick Mars Construction as a carpenter, and was a member of the Ellwood City Eagles Club. His mother, Debbie Murdock, described Richard as a hard-working, blue collar man who was raised with values. She said he lived to love and help others and had a heart of gold. Ellwood City Youth Basketball Clinic Planned

A basketball clinic is scheduled this month for Ellwood City boys and girls in grade 3-6. The clinic will be held over two weekends, Saturday, November 6th and Saturday, November 13th, and is garnering some attention according to Girls Varsity Head Coach Dena Noble. “We have over 80 ECASD students signed up to participate,” says Noble. Elementary students were sent home from their respective school with the registration earlier in October.
