Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation to Celebrate Opening Day this Saturday

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation will celebrate the opening of the summer baseball season on Saturday, April 30 with a parade starting at 11 a.m. in Ewing Park. Events include a home run derby, dunk tank, carnival games, inflatables, prizes and trophies, a 50/50 raffles, a Chinese auction, and more. There will also be a Pitch, Hit & Run event open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 beginning at 4 p..m. in Sanders Field in Ewing Park.


Corona D’Italia April Meeting

Officers and members of Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with the pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Sentinel Lois DiFrischia. Mistress of Ceremonies Mary Quintanilla voiced the invocation for the Easter season. Orator Valerie Valentino presented candy favors and decorated Easter baskets filled with candy and chips to each person in attendance. Class of 1954 April Meeting

Pudue La Cava hosted the 1954 Lincoln High School “Life is a Beach” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, April 14 at 4 p.m. The session began with a luncheon provided by committee members Ann Amadio, Ilene Gardner, Jan Keenan, Clemmy Sirimarco and LaCava and served by LaCava and Gardner. Gardner conducted the business session that followed. Sirimarco presented the financial reports and updated all the fundraising activities. Write On Fair at the Ellwood Library Celebrates Local Authors

Becoming a published author is no easy feat, and there are over 30 published authors in the Ellwood area. To honor these individual and celebrate local literary culture, the Ellwood City Area Public Library will host an author fair this Friday, April 29. Write On, organized by the Ellwood City Library 100th Anniversary Committee, will showcase 22 local authors. The committee identified over 30 authors, but not all were able to attend. Earth Day Attracts Hundreds to Ewing Park to Celebrate the Planet

An estimated 700 visitors passed through Ewing Park to visit the annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration. Although the weather was chilly, it didn’t discourage attendance, and the sun shined throughout the festivities. “This Year’s Earth Day Celebration brought Ellwood City, New Castle and the surrounding areas together to laugh, learn, create and celebrate our beautiful planet,” Tracey Ferguson, Lawrence County Earth Day co-organizer, said. Robert Lane Replaces TJ Hill as Magician at Relay for Life Family Friendly Night Out

Robert Lane of Youngstown will replace TJ Hill as the performing magician at the Relay for Life Family Friendly Night Out this Saturday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, magician TJ Hill had to cancel his performance. Lane was highly recommended to replace Hill. In addition, the event will feature children’s author Melanie Atmore, who will be selling her book “From a Butterfly’s Eye.” Atmore has graciously offered to donate some of the proceeds to Relay for Life. Community College of Beaver County Receives International Creative Awards

Monaca – Community College of Beaver County’s marketing department is the recent recipient of three Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. The awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production, web and free-lance professionals.
