Veterans’ Specialist to Visit Gibbons’ Office Next Week

State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, today announced he will host veterans’ specialist Stephanie Bengoa in his Ellwood City office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 to lend help to veterans and their families. Bengoa, of the American Legion’s Veterans Assistance program, will be in Gibbons’ office to assist veterans with understanding what benefits they have earned, filing appeals to existing claims, enrolling in the Veterans Administration health care system and any other question regarding benefits. Gibbons’ Ellwood City office is at 438 Line Ave. No appointment is necessary. Constituents with questions can contact Gibbons’ office at 724-752-1133.


ROAR Presents Masters of Magic Show

Riverside Outdoor Athletic Renovation (ROAR) will be holding magic show fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 16. The show will feature the Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley: Dave Lawrence, Ray Lucas, Bob Mullins, Don Moody, Bill Cornelius, Brad Brown, Dick Rectenwald and Frank Kietzke. The show will be held at the Riverside High School Auditorium. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a close-up magic show followed by a stage show at 7:30. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets may be purchased at readytoroar.com and will be available at the door.


New Dimension Comics Comes to Ohio Valley Mall Jan. 16, 2016

Pennsylvania comic book chain New Dimension Comics is expanding into Ohio. A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, Jan. 16 at our newest location in the Ohio Valley Mall (St Clairsville) from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. At over 10,000 square feet, this is one of the largest locations in the chain. Library Activities Week of December 21st

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 9th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. New members are always welcome, so call the library now for more information. Chewton Churches Present Outdoor Nativity Program

The Chewton Baptist Church and Chewton Christian Church invite all to their outdoor Nativity program. The program is Sunday, Dec. 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Chewton Christian Church. There will be combined choirs and child actors from both churches with an inspiring Christmas message. The program will be outdoors, so please dress warmly. There will be benches for seating, and visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served in the church following the program.


Final Holiday Merchant Award Awarded

On Tuesday, Mayor Court presented to Patty Kuhn, owner of Posies by Patty, with the final 2015 “Holiday Merchant Awards” for the beautiful Holiday Window display at her business. Patty received a window display award sign and a gift certificate from a local restaurant. Mayor Court would like to thank everyone who participated in making this annual event such a success.
