Lincoln Class of 1954 June Meeting

Pudue La Cava hosted the Lincoln Class of 1954, “Life is a Beach” committee at her Mt Vernon Drive home on Thursday, June 16 at 4 p.m. The session began with lunch provided by Ann Amadio, Ilene Gardner, Jan Keenan, Arlene Maielli, Clemmy Sirmarco and LaCava. Gardner and LaCava served and presented Amadio with a birthday cake, made by Gardner, in honor of her Flag Day birthday. Corona D’Italia Lodge June Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 8 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with a pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Louis DiFrischia and Jackie Perno. Trustee Patty Regna voiced the invocation. The business session followed with financial reports by Treasurer Louise Vitullo. She welcomed Anita Chaffin, a long time member, who has been unable to attend meetings due to other commitments. Mayor Court Presents Fourth Beautification Award

On Friday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Judy Bokor of Spring Avenue, the Fourth 2016 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate. The Mayor was excited to present this to Judy, as once again, this was yet another first time recipients and they too were excited. Judy Bokor, like the many residents and recipients before her, take great pride in their property, and it shows in their beautiful landscape.

Library Activities For Week of June 20, 2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Local Program Lets Kids be “Veterinarian for a Day”

On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 34 area children attended Jr Vet Day Camp at the Ellwood Animal Hospital in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. This session was dedicated to learning how to be a “Pet Detective.” Animal diagnostic methods and treatments were demonstrated. For the last 12 years, Dr. Cynthia Maro and the staff of the Ellwood and Chippewa Animal Hospitals and Cranberry Holistic Pet Care have offered local kids a unique, behind the scenes experience at life in a veterinary clinic. On Wednesday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Nicole and John McClaren of Evans Drive the second 2016 Beautification Award and gift certificate. The McClaren’s were very appreciative for the nomination of their home for this award, and Mayor Court thanked them for taking pride in their home and in their hometown of Ellwood City.

Gibbons to Host Free Shredding Event this Saturday

BEAVER FALLS, June 14 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, is hosting a free shredding event for the community to destroy unneeded confidential documents. The shredding event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 18 at the North Sewickley Fire Hall, 893 Mercer Road. “One of the simplest things you can do to protect yourself from identity theft is to shred documents with sensitive personal information that you no longer need,” Gibbon said. “I am hosting a shredding event where those documents may be shredded safely and at no charge.” Attendees should bring to shred any documents…

Goldieann Bookamer First Tommy Novosel Scholarship Winner

Goldieann Bookamer, a Lincoln High School Class of 2016 graduate, was awarded the first Tommy Novosel Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded during the June 5, 2016 service at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Ellwood City Parish. Goldieann will be attending Duquesne University in the fall to study Forensic Science & Law.
