Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Aug. 1, 2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. 50th Annual Bazaar Day 3

“Incredible weather for the third day in a row resulted in strong sales in the parish’s Outside Kitchen Food Booths which opened for lunch on Friday. The Baked Goods Booth, Ride Sales, Gift Basket Drawing and the Summer Cash Give-Away Raffle also logged near record sales,” said Laurie Nocera, bazaar steering committee member. Class of 1954 “Life is a Beach” Reunion

The sign welcomed the 1954 Lincoln classmates to “Life is a Beach” as presented by the umbrella picnic table, set with a champagne bottle and service, framed by two Adirondack chairs draped with beach towels on the lawn of the Ellwood City Saxon Club, on Saturday, July 16 at 3 p.m. The attendees entered the hall entrance directed by the arrow sign held by a perched sea bird on the left and on the right, beach “sand” with two sand chairs holding beach towels set around an umbrella table. Holy Redeemer 50th Annual Bazaar: Day 2

“Sales for our $15,000.000 Summer Cash Give-Away are brisk,” Lou Ferrario, bazaar steering committee member, said. The Summer Cash Give Away awarded three $500.00 cash prizes Thursday night and will give away four $500.00 cash awards on Friday night. At the conclusion of the bazaar, Saturday night, two separate $5,000.00 cash awards will be given away. 5th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup

Calling All Volunteers & Supporters! The 5th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup is fast approaching! Please help us restore this important waterway back to its beautiful, natural state by removing the physical garbage that consumes it. So far we have removed over 200,000 pounds of garbage, including over 2,000 tires from just 30 miles of the 50 mile waterway! This year we are focusing on a 12 mile stretch, starting in Harmony and ending in Fombell. This is the first year the cleanup is in Butler and Beaver Counties! The Holy Redeemer 50th Annual Bazaar started Wednesday, July 27 and will run through Saturday July 30. Early Learning Open Enrollment at Ewing Park on Aug. 6

Early Learning open enrollment. will be held at Ewing Park in Shelter 3A on Aug. 6 from noon to 3 p.m. The program offers childcare for infants, toddlers and preschool children.The program is through Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP), a non-profit organization in Lawrence County that serves individuals in need through a variety of programs. In addition to Early Learning, there will be enrollment for other programs including emergency housing , transportation, employment, lead screening, weatherization, veteran’s services and an optical clinic. Community Building, One Soul at a Time

Since 2007, a group of people has been gathering faithfully on the first Thursday of the month to sing, pray and listen to an inspirational talk. They close the service with refreshments and fellowship. This simple, steady injection of “goodness” is changing lives, and even influencing Ellwood City for the better.
