On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 34 area children attended Jr Vet Day Camp at the Ellwood Animal Hospital in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. This session was dedicated to learning how to be a “Pet Detective.” Animal diagnostic methods and treatments were demonstrated. For the last 12 years, Dr. Cynthia Maro and the staff of the Ellwood and Chippewa Animal Hospitals and Cranberry Holistic Pet Care have offered local kids a unique, behind the scenes experience at life in a veterinary clinic. Goldieann Bookamer, a Lincoln High School Class of 2016 graduate, was awarded the first Tommy Novosel Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded during the June 5, 2016 service at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Ellwood City Parish. Goldieann will be attending Duquesne University in the fall to study Forensic Science & Law. Court has presented to area residents a special “Beautification Award” sign and an area restaurant gift certificate to nominees for the way they present their gardening talents and take special care of how their properties look during the summer growing season. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life.
