On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds you can take appliances, batteries, fluorescent lights, shoes, and tires to be recycled. Household hazardous waste and electronics can also be recycled but registration for these items is required. To register call ECS&R at 866-815-0016. The spring clean up program will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The drop off will be at 1200 Factory Avenue. Procedure: Residents who wish to dispose of their items are to provide our Utility Billing Office with a copy of their electric bill or driver’s license for identification (or an authorized Government ID for non-drivers). The individual will then be given a numbered tag for $5.00 entitling the recipient to drop off up to one (1) pickup-sized truck/car load at the site. History comes alive at the 24th Annual Heritage Festival at McConnells Mill State Park on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Festival, sponsored by the Portersville-Prospect Rotary, celebrates the operational time period of the historical gristmill—from 1852 to 1928.
