Suicide Prevention Class

Ellwood City Hospital Behavioral Health Unit will be hosting a QPR training course for Lawrence County residents interested in combating the 10th leading cause of death in the nation, suicide. QPR stands for question, persuade, and refer; these are the three basic principals taught by professionals on how to potentially save a life. Ellwood Prepares for Annual Light Up Night

A large evergreen can be spotted in Ellwood’s downtown community plaza patiently awaiting decoration in preparation for Ellwood City’s very own annual Light Up Night. The Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce hosts the Let There Be Lights weekend annually, typically consisting of an array of Christmas themed activities. This year Light Up Night will be Dec. 2 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. in the community plaza. Blood Drive Host Thanks Community for Participation

Debbie Murdock, the mother of Richard Hogue -a 28 year old who was fatally shot a few years ago; wanted to formally thank all attendees to her annually hosted blood drive. “We had a great turnout and 57 lives were saved. Mayor Court and Joshua Lamancusa came to support Richard and also made a donation, and Dominoes Pizza donated pizza for the blood drive… We (Richard’s family) are very grateful for the support -keeping Richard’s memory alive by giving the gift of  life,” Murdock appreciated.
