CCBC And Republic Airways Establish Aviation Career Pipeline Agreement

Monaca, PA – According to Statista projections, the global airline pilot shortage could reach 50,000 by 2025, while the National Air Traffic Controllers Association reports that the FAA is short nearly 4,000 air traffic controllers. To address industry hiring demands and to put future pilots and air controllers on successful career paths, Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) and Republic Airways Inc. have signed an agreement to create the Aviation Career Pipeline Interview Program. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award four (4) fifteen hundred dollar($1,500.00) scholarships this year. All graduating seniors living in the Ellwood City Area School District or the Riverside School District are eligible. Lincoln High School Students Earn 2nd & 3rd Place Finishes at Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge

The Ellwood City Area School District made headlines last Friday as two teams of local students from Lincoln High School earned 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge presented by Citizens. The two-day, high-energy financial literacy competition took place at Stage AE in Pittsburgh on December 11th and 12th. The second and third place team beat out 75 teams/259 students during Friday’s competition to claim top spots. Each team took home cash prizes and bragging rights. ECASD Board of Directors Reorganizes, Welcomes Newcomer, Announces Meeting 2026 Dates

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors held its election of officers for 2026 during Thursday’s combined meeting. The meeting began with swearing in re-elected and newly elected board members including: Norman Boots, Claire Fauzey, Kathy Galbreath, Nick Mancini, and Kathy Tillia. Galbreath will serve as board president for 2026. She was nominated by Boots and received votes from Boots, Director Kevin Boariu, Tillia, and Mancini. Board President for 2025, Jennifer Tomon, was also nominated by Director Jean Biehls and received votes from Biehls, Director Erica Gray, and Fauzey.
