Ellwood City Area Students Announced On CCBC President’s & Dean’s List for Fall 2025 Semester

(Monaca) – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) is proud to release 22 names of full-time and part-time Ellwood City area students who achieved either President’s List or Dean’s List honors for the fall 2025 semester. To be named to the President’s List, students must have completed at least 12 hours of credit-bearing courses in which performance grades are awarded and have received a 3.75 grade-point average or above for the semester. Lincoln High School Students Earn 2nd & 3rd Place Finishes at Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge

The Ellwood City Area School District made headlines last Friday as two teams of local students from Lincoln High School earned 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge presented by Citizens. The two-day, high-energy financial literacy competition took place at Stage AE in Pittsburgh on December 11th and 12th. The second and third place team beat out 75 teams/259 students during Friday’s competition to claim top spots. Each team took home cash prizes and bragging rights. ECASD Board of Directors Reorganizes, Welcomes Newcomer, Announces Meeting 2026 Dates

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors held its election of officers for 2026 during Thursday’s combined meeting. The meeting began with swearing in re-elected and newly elected board members including: Norman Boots, Claire Fauzey, Kathy Galbreath, Nick Mancini, and Kathy Tillia. Galbreath will serve as board president for 2026. She was nominated by Boots and received votes from Boots, Director Kevin Boariu, Tillia, and Mancini. Board President for 2025, Jennifer Tomon, was also nominated by Director Jean Biehls and received votes from Biehls, Director Erica Gray, and Fauzey. Lawrence County Learning Center Has New Home At BC3 @ Lawrence

New Castle, PA) A nonprofit organization that partners with providers of courses or programs that lead to educational, occupational, professional or vocational credentials now shares a Shenango Commons suite with a Butler County Community College additional location established 12 weeks ago. The 27-year-old Lawrence County Learning Center, one of Pennsylvania’s 10 Community Education Councils, has moved from 101 S. Mercer St., New Castle, to a space it sublets at BC3 @ Lawrence, Suite 129, 2658 Ellwood Road in Shenango Township. ECASD Board of Directors Vote to Fund North Side, Hartman Capital Improvements

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted 5-3 to Adopt a Resolution, as prepared by Bond Counsel, authorizing the issuance of General Obligation Bonds, in an amount not to exceed $11,905,000, for capital improvements to the School District’s educational facilities  (View a copy of the study here). The Hall of Fame Committee of the Ellwood City Area School District is pleased to announce the incoming class of the Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame. BC3 Receives Largest Gift Of Kind Through Tax-Credit Program

(Butler, PA) The Butler County Community College Education Foundation has received the largest Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit contribution since its first in 2012 and from the Cranberry Township-based MSA Safety, an international developer and manufacturer of advanced safety products. MSA Safety’s $50,000 gift will support a BC3 program that enables sophomores through seniors to earn affordable and transferrable credits in college courses instructed at their high school or learning centers, and benefit a game played by pupils as young as fourth-graders that increases financial literacy.
