The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to hire Elizabeth Tomon for a building clerk position at Perry Lower Intermediate during the July 11 combined regular meeting. Board President Jennifer Tomon abstained from voting as Elizabeth Tomon is a relative. Elizabeth received “Yes” votes from Board Vice President Jean Biehls and Directors Erica Gray, Kathy Tillia, Kevin Boariu, Robyn Nicklas and Dr. Claire Fauzey. “No” votes were cast by Directors Kathy Galbreath and Norman Boots. Portersville Native Selected As New BC3 Vice President

Dr. Josh Novak, a longtime dean at Butler County Community College who has led student services and resources such as those for academic support, access and disability, food security and mental health, will become the college’s vice president for student affairs and enrollment management July 9. Novak, 39, of Slippery Rock, has served in progressive dean of students roles in BC3’s student affairs and enrollment management division since August 2011, and will succeed Dr. Case Willoughby in the Cabinet-level position. BC3 Announces President’s List, Dean’s List and Graduates For Spring 2024

Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the spring 2024 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. Students who have achieved a cumulative GPA (grade-point average) of 3.75 or higher are named to the President’s List following completion of at least 12 semester hours or upon completion of degree requirements. ECASD Board of Directors Approve Budget, Eliminate Nepotism Policy

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to approve the General Fund Budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year in the amount of $36,470,849 as well as the tax resolution setting the tax rates for the 2023-2024 fiscal year to include the ACT 679 $5 per capita tax, the ACT 511 $10 per capita tax (a shared tax by municipalities), property tax millage at 19.94 mills, Earned Income Tax at .5%, Realty Transfer Tax at .5% and the Occupational Privilege/Local Service Tax at $5.00 during the June 17 Regular Meeting. Ellwood City Sports Physicals To Be Held On June 13th

According to information made available by the district, Ellwood City Sports Physicals for the 2024-25 school year will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the High School Nurse’s office. Any student in grades 7-12 that are interested must pre-register in the Principal’s office by Wednesday. Forms must be completed and payment must be made before an appointment time is given. Cost of the Physical is $20.00.  This is the only date that physicals will be offered by the school. The North Side Primary school hosted a Lemonade Stand that was run by 2nd Grade Entrepreneurs last week. As part of the educational day, five different stations helped all students learned how to work for themselves. Students were able to practice and demonstrate soft skills such as communicating, collaborating, co-operation, being adaptable, time management and other interpersonal skills according to Debbie Weich, North Side Primary School counselor. Ellwood City Wolves Host Annual Scholarship Dinner

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II hosted their annual Scholarship Dinner on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Connequenessing Country Club. The club provides 9 scholarships a year ($16,000) to graduating seniors from Lincoln and Riverside high schools and to two community college students. The Wolves Club members, guests, school guidance counselors, community college representatives and Scholarship winners were greeted by Scholarship Committee Chairman John DiBuono.  Dennis Boariu served as Master of Ceremonies.
