Bernstine Announces State Funding for Workforce Development in Lawrence County

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) announced the West Central Workforce Development Board will receive a $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The funding will support a West Central Workforce Development Board program to provide job training to young adults who were formerly incarcerated. The Community Connections program links these young adults to youth re-entry project partners, who will determine skill sets and training gaps, the need for supportive services, and training options. Vogel: Senate Acts to Protect Sexually Exploited Children, Human Trafficking Victims

HARRISBURG – Continuing to stand up for the safety and protection of children in the commonwealth, Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr (R-47) and his fellow Senate colleagues approved legislation yesterday to ensure sexually exploited children who are human trafficking victims always have full access to appropriate services and support. Under current Pennsylvania law, any minor that is exploited for commercial sex must identify their third-party perpetrator to be considered a victim of human trafficking, unless their purchaser is charged as a trafficker. Reagan Boariu won the 2023 Little Miss Firecracker title this past weekend at the Ellwood City Festival. The 8-year-old garnered the crown during the 6th Annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant held on Friday, June 30th at the Folino Stage in Ewing Park.  The pageant is part of the annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival. Reagan is the daughter of Eric and April Boariu. She dazzled the judges with her patriotic tutu ensemble and bubbly personality. She did a winning curtesy at the judges on stage. Borough Needs Volunteers To Help Fill Planter Boxes

The Borough of Ellwood City is looking for volunteers to help fill their downtown planter boxes. Last month, the borough received a $2,000.00 2023 National Pennsylvania Day Mini Grant from America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and in support of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. Thousands of visitors flocked to the grounds to enjoy local food, crafts, and plenty of entertainment during the 2023 Ellwood City Arts, Crafts & Foods Festival. While warm and clear weather greeted patrons on Friday, heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday made for a soggy end to the annual festival.  Amid the rain on Sunday, the scheduled fireworks took place as scheduled. Riverside Lions Busy With Donations And Fundraisers

The Riverside Lions have been busy over the last few months with donations and fundraisers according to King Lion Chip Campbell. First, the Lions donated money along with hygiene products, provided by Dr. Marion and Miracle Dental, to the Divine Grace Ministerium. “The donations were made through the Hygiene Helpers initiative supported by the Riverside Lions and will be used to buy hygiene products for some of the over 300 families supported by Divine Grace Food Bank,” says Campbell. Festival Entertainment Part Five: Rust Valley Revival to Return to Festival with Rockin’ Lineup

The Ellwood City Festival is a bit of a Rock Reunion for Rust Valley Revival (RVR). This year’s Festival will mark one year since the band’s first gig.
