Riverside Lions Busy With Donations And Fundraisers

The Riverside Lions have been busy over the last few months with donations and fundraisers according to King Lion Chip Campbell.

First, the Lions donated money along with hygiene products, provided by Dr. Marion and Miracle Dental, to the Divine Grace Ministerium.

“The donations were made through the Hygiene Helpers initiative supported by the Riverside Lions and will be used to buy hygiene products for some of the over 300 families supported by Divine Grace Food Bank,” says Campbell.

Donations received through the Hygiene Helpers projects are split between the Divine Grace Ministerium and the Riverside School system. Through the years the Hygiene Helpers project has been able to distribute thousands of dollars in hygiene products.

Next, with the help of the Rochester Beaver Lions, the Lions donated a TREX bench to be raffled off by Reed Landscaping in support of their K-9 Dog Days of Summer. This event raises money to support K-9 dogs in our local area and is the third year Reed has sponsored this event. Lack of funds have reduced the availability of K-9 dogs being used in our area.

Riverside Lions also hosted our first Paint and Sip Fundraiser held at the Moose Club.

“The fundraiser was attended by approximately 40 people and was taught by Lynn Campbell, a member of the Lions,” says Campbell. “She demonstrated how to paint a small LOVE sign.”

Lion Lynn, Joan Bower, and Barb Stiles did the base coating and added the patterns on the wood surface.

The club also donated a new wheelchair to the Riverside School. Pictured are school nurse Darcy Knight, Lion Joan Bowser and school nurse Amber Gebhart.

The club hosted a Blind Party for the blind and visually impaired in Beaver County at the Lighthouse for the Blind in New Brighton. The guests were treated to pizza, cole slaw, chips and ice cream. Entertainment was provided by Bernie Cunningham who sang and played the guitar. Every month a different Lions club from Beaver Valley hosts a party of this type.
