Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. 3 Rivers Comicon is coming to Pittsburgh on May 21 and 22, featuring comic book vendors, artists, creators gaming and beer! Mayor Proclaims Second Annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day in Ellwood City

Mayor Anthony J. Court was honored to proclaim Friday, May 6, 2016 as the second annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day in Ellwood City. The presentation was made to Joe Venasco, the Director of the Lawrence County Mental Health/Development Services. EC Jr. High Battles North Hills, Falls 7-1

Last week, the Lady Wolverines were trounced 15-0 in three innings by the North Hills Indians. On Tuesday evening, the junior high ladies fought hard for seven innings before falling short by a final score of 7-1. This was the third straight game in which the young team has been competitive against a Class AAAA foe that had previously mercy ruled them. Ellwood Boys Tennis Team Defeats Central Valley

The Lincoln High School Boy’s Varsity Tennis team moved within one match of a .500 section record yesterday, improving their section record to 3-4 with a hard-fought win over Central Valley. Trey Houk won at second singles, and the first singles team of Corey Hobbs and Shane Reisinger maintained their undefeated section status at first doubles, both with straight set wins. Gibbons Announces Over $200,000 Awarded to Area First Responders

Harrisburg, April 28 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, has announced that 16 local fire companies and one EMS squad are receiving more than $211,000 in state grants. Gibbons said the state grants can be used toward repairing, building or renovating facilities and can also be applied toward the purchase of new equipment, training or facility maintenance. “Our first responders save lives in time of need,” Gibbons said. “The vehicle and equipment upkeep can be very expensive and this grant award can be used to repay a possible debt-related loan.” The grants are made possible by the Fire Company and…


Lincoln High School Marching Band Saturday Sub Sale

The Lincoln High School Marching Band will be selling submarines on Saturday, April 30. The members will be selling them beginning at 9 a.m. in the high school parking lot and various locations in town. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the students in the upcoming marching band season.


Riverside Seniors Boehm and Boswell Sign Letters of Intent

Two Riverside High School seniors signed letters of intent on Thursday, April 21 for NCAA Division II colleges. Ashley Boehm will be attending Seton Hill University in Greensburg to play softball. She is the daughter of Kerry and Paul Boehm. Michael Boswell will be attending Tiffin University in Toleda, Ohio to play baseball. He is the son of Mike and Nancy Boswell.  


Mayor Announces Summer 2016 Beautification Awards

Mayor Anthony J. Court has announced today that once again Ellwood City’s residents will turn their properties into beautiful landscape displays for everyone to enjoy. As in past years, Mayor Court plans to present “2016 Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to five area residents who are nominated by family and friends for taking pride in their properties and in Ellwood City.
