Join the Crop Hunger Walk: September 25, 2016.

The second annual Crop Hunger Walk will take place on September 25, 2016 at 2pm in Ewing Park. According to the organizations website, Crop Hunger Walk has been around for nearly half a century and it has been helping to end hunger by raising funds to support local food programs and the international anti-hunger work of Church World Service. They’ve donated their assistance not only to families all across America, but they’ve helped provide for other countries like Nicaragua and Indonesia. CCBC and Point Park Sign Agreement

Monaca, PA –Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) and Point Park University are teaming up to provide CCBC students with another option as they pursue associate and bachelor’s degrees. 5 Charged After This Mornings Shooting

Updated 8-31-16 at 8a.m. According to the criminal complaint filed this morning, at approximately 6:45 in the morning, officers were dispatched to 515 Loop Street for a robbery in progress. The caller advised police that her boyfriend was held at gun point and gave the robbers $24.00 and a bag of marijuana. While police were on their way to the address the caller said her boyfriend was shot at and the robbers were armed, fleeing on foot towards Aetna Drive. Siren Test September 1

The Beaver Valley Power Station will be conducting their annual Siren Test on Thursday September 1st, 2016 at approximately 11 am. These are the siren located within the ten mile area of the Power Station. There will also be a Swift 911 Mass Notification message sent out to the residents with a landline and registered cell phones. Hidden Gem Photography Grand Opening

Rebecca Dembach is the visionary behind Hidden Gem Photography, located at 314 5th Street in Ellwood. Though she has been doing professional photography for years, she just recently decided to open up her own photography studio. Rebecca graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Ganon University in 2014. Criminal Complaints: Man Resisting Arrest Results in a Bloody Struggle

Man resisting arrest results in a bloody struggle According to the criminal complaint filed on August 25, Jamie Steven Sullivan, 44, will be facing charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, presenting false identification to law enforcement, and criminal mischief. Sullivan and two friends were pulled over for suspicious behavior witnessed by officers on Thursday night. Law enforcement asked the gentlemen in the car for some sort of identification; while two of the men gave police officers their driver license, Sullivan stated he didn’t have an I.D. Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle to Benefit Brooke Moffat

On July 13th, 2016, 10 year old Brooke Moffatt was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Brooke’s parents, Darren and Lynn, are asking the community to support Brooke by attending Brooke’s Benefit Dinner hosted at the Wurtemburg-Perry Volunteer Fire Department on September 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, and by entering the “Fiesta” Raffle. Tickets for the dinner are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 10 and under. At the dinner there will be a 50/50, Chinese auction, and more. PHOTOS: 2016 Ellwood City Pie Festival (indoors!)

Due to pending thunderstorms and wet weather forecasted to enter the area Thursday evening, the annual Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School large gymnasium.  The change was announced by the school early Thursday afternoon and later reported confirmed on Twitter, first by the Lincoln Blue Band account (@LHSBlueBand). The event is normally held at Helling Stadium, but precautions were taken by moving the event indoors this year. Lincoln High School Blue Band members and Ellwood City fall sport team members were announced.
