Local Artist Invites All to See His Dinosaur Replicas

George Shean, a disabled veteran living on Rhode Island Avenue in Ellwood, encourages all in the area to come by and view the replica T-Rex skeletons he has designed and displayed on his front lawn. There are currently two replicas, one is a large T-Rex which stands six feet tall, four and a half feet wide, 23 feet in length and took roughly eight months to complete, then there is a smaller T-Rex, reaching a maximum length of nine feet, that stands guard over their replica T-Rex nest. Opinion: Leaving EllwoodCity.org

I have moved on in life and will soon no longer be the journalist at EllwoodCity.org. This is goodbye. Rather than having an abrupt end date, I will more or less fade out while the next journalist moves in and starts another chapter of Ellwoodian adventures. Ellwood City Company Signs Contract with North Allegheny School District

Ellwood City-based marketing company Thought Process Enterprises (TPE) recently signed a contract with North Allegheny School District forming a partnership that will allow advertisements on the district’s website as a means of generating revenue for the district. With school districts facing increasing financial difficulties, some districts have looked for alternative means to raise money beyond tax revenue and government funding. TPE helps districts in their search for additional income. Through their online advertising division, EDGEclick Advertising, TPE has created a network school districts that earn supplemental revenue through banner ads on the school district’s website. Pie Festival!

The Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Lincoln Blue Band will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Helling Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. This is a special event to kick off the Blue Band’s fall entertainment. All Blue Band members and fall sport team members will be announced. Each member will receive a free piece of pie. Mayor Presented with Gold Watch

Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court was recognized by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association for outstanding achievements in High School athletics in his 32 years of service. He was presented with a gold watch at the Awards banquet held at the Hilton in Harrisburg on August 6, 2016. Court has officiated numerous state play-off games including Western State finals and PA State finals in his illustrious 32 year career. Letter from Standing Up to Ellwood Electric to Ellwood City Borough Council

At the Ellwood City Borough council agenda meeting on Aug. 8, Rob Brough, representing the citizen group “Standing Up to Ellwood Electric,” which has almost 1,200 members, read a letter requesting an informal meeting of citizens and council members to discuss the Ellwood City Electric Department. At the conclusion of the meeting, council president Connie MacDonald met with Brough to set the date, time and place. 2016 Delmar Golf Course 56th Annual Club Championship

Stephen Johns captured his first Delmar GC Club Championship with a 2/1 match play victory over Sam Barry Jr. Brad Linville captured the A-flight championship with a 2/1 victory over Jim Farone. Rosie Tammaro captured the B-flight championship with a 5/4 victory over Gino Ceriani.

Police: DUI Man Says “Just Arrest Me Already”

DUI Man Says “Just Arrest Me Already” According to the criminal compliant on July 30, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers were dispatched for a DUI at the Ellwood City McDonalds. Officers made contact with the Joseph Michael Marino, 30, of Pittsburgh, Marino said “just arrest me already. I know I’m drunk and I know I’m not going to pass.” Marino was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital and later charged with two counts of DUI.
