Baseball, Softball Teams Lose Weekend Matches

Ellwood City Wolverines Loses Lead Early in Defeat Ellwood City Wolverines watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to West Allegheny on Saturday. West Allegheny scored on a single by Justin Usenicnik in the first inning and a double by Trey Zeroski in the second inning. West Allegheny took an early lead in the first inning. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of April 10th, 2017

Activities scheduled at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, April 10th, through Saturday, April 15th – A week-long “Count the Jelly Beans Game” will be held for toddlers, preschoolers and early elementary-aged children all this week. The game will take place during library hours, so stop by anytime to play. Those participating will be asked to count the jelly beans hidden in the Children’s Department to win a special prize. Lawrence County Man Facing 50 Counts of Sexual Abuse of Children

Jay W. Flagg, 60, of 319 S. Croton Ave., New Castle, is facing 50 felony counts of sexual abuse of children, one felony count of dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions, and films, and one felony count of criminal use of communication facility proceeding an incident involving child pornography. According to the criminal complaint filed 3-24-17, on 2-23-16 Flagg was investigated after the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Computer Crime Unit, forwarded two CyberTip reports indicated that a male suspect in the Lawrence County are had uploaded child pornography to the internet using Google related services in 2015. “The images depict…

Steel Valley Captures Lead Early to Defeat Riverside Panthers Varsity

Riverside Panthers Varsity Softball fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to Steel Valley on Thursday. Steel Valley scored on a home run by #24, a triple by #13, an error, and a fielder’s choice by #28 in the first inning. Steel Valley captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning #24 drove in two runs when she homered. Wolverines and Panthers Victorious Against Opponents

Roth’s Walkoff Gives Ellwood City Wolverines Victory Over Beaver Falls A walk-off single led Ellwood City Wolverines past Beaver Falls 1-0 on Wednesday. The game was tied at zero with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the bottom of the seventh when Anthony Roth singled off of Matt Veon, driving in one run. PHOTOS: Lady Wolverines Open Section Play with 15-0 Victory Over Riverside

   In the section opener for Ellwood City, the Wolverine bats heated up just like the weather. The offense banged out 13 hits in just 3 innings of work as the game was halted by the mercy rule. Ariana Garroway and Zoe Kalantzis both hit shots that left the yard. Garroway finished the day 3-3 with a 3 run blast, scored twice and totaled 4 rbi’s.
