Wampum Area Christmas Parade Celebrates Dr. Seuss Publications

Wampum, PA – Each year, the Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee prepares floats that do not compete in the popular float contest. They like to add to parade line-up each to assure new and fresh content to complement the familiar traditions. Long time Parade Chairperson Donna Kuiken chooses themes that will delight the kids along the parade route.  “It has always been about the kids,” she acknowledges.  Often a popular movie sparks the inspiration for the floats, but this year the committee is going “old school” with a float featuring the books of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. Hunting Season

Pennsylvania’s rifle deer hunting season starts today and will run through December 9. According to Pennsylvania’s Game Commission, they estimate about 550,000 hunters with rifles are expected to take to the woods in search of white-tailed deer. Hunters are allowed to harvest one buck, as well as an antlerless deer for each antlerless permit they hold. We encourage everyone to practice safety while out hunting and be alert for other people and animals. Last year a local man mistook a horse for a deer, resulting in the horse’s death. For anyone who plans on walking in and around the woods…
