Updates on the Ellwood City Hospital

Over the past week dozens of employees had been laid off at the Ellwood City Hospital, an action that left the community wondering what’s going on. Updates about the current state of the Ellwood City Hospital have remained far and in between since information about the sale had been made public earlier this year. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of October 30, 2017

Activities at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, October 31, at 10:00 a.m. — Family Laptime, designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers and preschoolers. Please note that there will only be one session this week, at 10:00 a.m., due to Trick-or-Treat night scheduled for Tuesday evening. The 6:30 p.m. session will resume next week. Mayor Donates Basket to Super Soren Fund Raiser

Mayor Anthony J. Court of Ellwood City was honored to donate a basket for a fundraiser that will take place to support the rehabilitation costs for Soren Flook, a young boy who survived a tragic accident. A Ziti Dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Wurtemburg Fire Hall from 1p-4p. There will be a huge “basket” auction, and a autographed photo of Steelers’ “Antonio Brown” Door Prize. Festivities will also include “An Enchanted Fairytale Princess” in attendance. Documentary “Project 22” Coming to BC3 at Lawrence Crossing

New Castle, PA – BC3 at Lawrence Crossing on Nov. 14 will offer a free public screening of “Project 22,” an April 2015 documentary created by two young combat veterans and one that heightens awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder and suicide among those who served in recent wars, the president of the college’s Student Veterans Association said. “Project 22” will be shown at 2849 W. The Ellwood City Police Department issued the following warning to area residents: The Police Department has received inquiries about a possible scam involving local utilities (Electric, Gas, Water and Sewage). A resident reported receiving a call (Red Flag #1) that their utility bill was past due and their utility would be shut off if the individual didn’t WIRE MONEY (Red flag #2) to them in the next 20 minutes (Red Flag #3). Wampum Light Up Night Announced

Wampum Area Business Association announces its Light Up the Town Night on Thursday, November 30, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m. They will be dedicating the “all new over the street Christmas Decorations” that were purchased by donations from local businesses and the community. Corona D’italia Lodge #807 held their Columbus Day Dinner on Saturday, October 07, 2:00 PM at the Wolverine Restaurant.
