Newborn’s Body Found Under Porch of Home on Ellwood Road

Brittany Robinson, 23, of Shenango Township is facing charges of homicide, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of a child after the body of her newborn was found hidden under the porch of a home on Ellwood Road. The owner of a home in the 3200 block on Ellwood Road called the police on Sunday, who then found the infant’s body hidden in a crawlspace outside. Hunting Season

Pennsylvania’s rifle deer hunting season starts today and will run through December 9. According to Pennsylvania’s Game Commission, they estimate about 550,000 hunters with rifles are expected to take to the woods in search of white-tailed deer. Hunters are allowed to harvest one buck, as well as an antlerless deer for each antlerless permit they hold. We encourage everyone to practice safety while out hunting and be alert for other people and animals. Last year a local man mistook a horse for a deer, resulting in the horse’s death. Nativities On Display Event

During several days during December, the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church will be hosting a Nativities On Display event featuring over 200 displays. The event dates and times are Thursday, Dec 7 from 4p.m.-8p.m., Friday, Dec 8 from 4p.m.-8p.m., and Saturday, Dec 9 from 11a.m.-3p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcome. One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Bissell household, located at 3302 River Road in Ellwood City, is the first home on the list to be decorated for the event. 2017 Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County Calendar Fundraiser

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are selling 2018 Calendars. Calendars are $10 and available for purchase at the Penn State Extension Office located at 430 Court Street (Courthouse) New Castle, Pa 16101 or by calling 724-654-8370. Calendars can also be mailed for a $5 fee. The calendar promotes our Master Gardener program, along with providing gardening tips throughout the year.
