Holy Redeemer would like to announce that they will be holding three events soon. The first is their annual Pilgrimage to the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady Lourdes in Euclid, Ohio on Thursday, September 12. Departure from the Catholic Center Parking lot will be at 8:00 a.m with a return time of around 4:30 p.m. Cost is $40 a person. Payment and reservation is due by September 6. BC3’s Highest Number Of High School Equivalency Graduates

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s free adult literacy program July 24 will graduate 60 students from Butler and Mercer counties with high school equivalency diplomas, the most since at least the 2007-2008 fiscal year, the director of the 33-year-old program said. Forty students attending BC3 adult literacy classes in Butler County and 20 in Mercer County passed General Education Development tests that measure proficiency in language arts, which includes reading and writing; and in mathematics, science and social studies between July 1, 2018, and June 30, Barb Gade said. BCS Debutes Mobile Lab For Online Manufacturing

(New Castle, PA) Butler County Community College’s manufacturing pre-apprenticeship certificate program, registered with the state Department of Labor and Industry and free to eligible students, will debut at BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing in August as mostly online and bolstered by eight hands-on lab sessions using equipment to be brought to BC3’s additional location in New Castle. Riverside’s Hand Finishes Strong In Opening Round at US Junior Amateur Championship

Riverside’s Justin Hand posted an opening-round 76 (+5) on Monday in the 72nd U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at historic Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. After struggling on the front nine of the round, including posting a triple-bogey, Hand settled down and fired a two-under 34 on the back-nine to level out to his first-round 76. The round sets him tied for 64th place out of 156 golfers. Koppel Bridge To Close In August

According to PA Department of Transportation officer Steve Cowan, a tentative closure date of the current 102-year-old Koppel Bridge is scheduled for August 13.  The closure is for 72 consecutive days. “During this time we will be constructing a retaining wall and doing approach roadway grading, drainage, paving, guide rail, line painting, any remaining bridge work, some demo to the old structure and planting/seeding work,” said Cowan in email.
