POLICE: Ellwood Police Seeking Uni-Mart Robbery Suspect

According to the Ellwood City Police Department Facebook account (@EllwoodCityPD), the police are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a suspect wanted for an armed robbery, which occurred on Monday morning, March 9, 2020, at approximately 5:00 a.m. The suspect entered the Uni-Mart Convenience Store located at the intersection of Sixth Street and Beaver / Factory Avenue’s in Ellwood City and forced the clerk to open the cash register. Walley Wins PIAA State Championship, First For LHS

Austin Walley is a state champion. The Ellwood City senior became the first to bring home a PIAA Wrestling Championship for Lincoln High School as he a victory over Dylan Bennett of Montoursville Area HS to claim gold on Saturday. Walley entered the 182-pound Class-AA championship match with only one loss on the season and squared off against an undefeated Bennett (39-0). Walley used a 6-5 decision to knock off Bennett. This is part one of a two part series about Riverside’s High School’s production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying.” Tomorrow’s article will feature a Q&A with the cast leads. BC3 Course Focuses On Preventing Military Veterans’ Suicide

(Butler, PA) Among Peter Albert’s patients at the Butler VA Health Care System are those who tell him that they’ve known more fellow fighters who killed themselves than those they’ve known who were killed in combat. Nearly 6,140 U.S. military veterans nationwide died by suicide in 2017, marking the 10th consecutive year in which the number exceeded 6,000, according to the VA’s 2019 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report. Ellwood City Police Officers Make Donation Towards LHS Field Trip

Mayor Anthony Court and Lt. David Kingston representing the Ellwood City Police Officers make a donation towards an annual field trip for Lincoln High School students, Teacher Mr. Gaibis, U.S. Advanced Placement Government and Politics class. Borough of Ellwood City Announces Utility Account Budget Plan

According to a press release made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, a utility account budget plan has been announced. Ellwood City Borough Council adopted Resolution #2004-4 approving a budget payment plan for utility accounts under the following provisions: Customers may complete the application form provided by the Borough during the annual open enrollment period from the third Monday in March through the third Friday in April. Historical Society To Award The Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarships

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award the Robert and Janice Barensfeld scholarships of $1,500.00 each to two graduating seniors in 2020 who have been accepted into an institution of higher learning. Riverside Boy’s Swimming Team Off To PIAA State Championships

After earning WPIAL gold on Day One of the WPIAL Swimming Championships on Thursday, the Riverside boys’ swimming again placed well on Day Two of the Class-AA WPIAL championship meet. Senior Josiah Shaffer posted a 2.17 second time drop in the 100 breast, securing a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:01:64.
