Department of Health Provides Update on COVID-19, New Presumptive Positives Bring Statewide Total to 21

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health this morning confirmed five additional presumptive positive case of COVID-19 — four residents from Montgomery County and one resident from Northampton County. All are adults and are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital. Borough of Ellwood City Response to the Coronavirus

In an abundance of caution, the Borough of Ellwood City has decided to limit the access of all non-essential employees and visitors to all Borough-owned buildings. According to a release made available by the borough, this will take effect today, Thursday, March 12, 2020, through April 1, 2020, at which time the borough will reevaluate the situation in regards to the Coronavirus. According to information made available on the district website, the Riverside Beaver County School District superintendent Bret Trotta released a statement this week regarding the coronavirus epidemic and what the district is doing to prevent any potential spread of the virus. Borough Announces 2020 Yard Waste Pickup Dates

The Ellwood City Borough has announced pickup dates for the borough issued yard waste bin collections. Yard waste bins are collected on specified weeks throughout the calendar years. Dates are also provided on borough utility bills. New Castle Man Pleads Guilty to Cocaine-Related Drug Charges

PITTSBURGH – A former resident of New Castle, PA pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Wesley Cox, also known as Michael Deshawn Carter, age 38, pleaded guilty to two counts before United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that from 2017 through May 2019, Cox participated in a conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of cocaine base, in the form commonly known as crack. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is the hottest topic in the world today. Ellwood City Area School District Superintendent Joseph Mancini said the district is having discussions regarding the disease, but that no major moves or changes have been made as of yet to address the situation.
