Fatal Accident Reported On Route 288 In Wayne Township

According to a Pittsburgh news outlet, a 68-year-old was killed as a result of a fatal head-on collision this morning in Wayne Township. KDKA reports state police announced the crash occurred just after 5:00 a.m. on Route 288, Wampum Road between Wampum and Ellwood City, at the intersection with Jockey Moore Road. One other person was injured in the crash. Route 288 at Jockey Moore Road was closed due to the accident.  The Wayne Township Fire Department recently announced Wampum Road to be open. 25th Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt Date Announced

Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee will be holding its 25th community Easter Egghunt for all area children ages 10 and under. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Ewing Park. Ellwood City School Board Continues Consideration of Kindergarten Admission

The Ellwood City Area School District Board is set to consider a change to Policy 201 during its Thursday voting meeting. The vote regarding kindergarten admission was tabled during the January 21st meeting because the board wanted further input and consideration from the administration as to whether a viable process to evaluate students for early entry could be developed and implemented. After initial review, the administration, during the board’s January 13 committee meeting, recommended that the policy should remain as is, but not all board members agree with that assessment. Route 288 Wampum Road Bridge Restriction Begins Monday

PennDOT District 11 is announcing single-lane alternating traffic on the Wampum Road (Route 288) Bridge in Wayne Township and Wampum Borough, Lawrence County, will begin Monday, February 10 weather permitting. Single-lane alternating traffic will occur on the Route 288 bridge over the Beaver River between Main Street and River Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late February. Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Wolverines to Riv-Ell Victory

Snowfall and icy cold conditions may have cancelled classes at Riverside and Ellwood City schools on Friday, but a heated rivalry game warmed the gymnasium court at Lincoln High School. Brielle Chesko drained four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points to lead the visiting Panthers to a 51-31 Section 1-3A victory over rival Ellwood City on Thursday.
