Golf Recap: EC Boys Defeat Rival Riverside, EC Girls Fall to Seneca Valley

The Ellwood City boys golfers defeated rival Riverside 203-249 on Tuesday at Del Mar Golf Course with Milo Sesti recording a 1-under par round of 35 for the victors. For the boys, Dan Ditri (41), Geoffrey Boker (42), Joey Hudson (43), and Daniel Rogers (43) joined Sesti on the scorecard.  Logan Greer finished with a team low round of 37 for Riverside in defeat. POLICE: Man Arrested After Investigation Into Domestic Dispute

Pennsylvania State Police have arrested Justin Gates, 31, of Ellwood City after an investigation found Gates in El Dorado Motel located in Shenango Township. According to the police report, on Tuesday, August 25, police were looking for Gates in reference to felony warrants for a separate related incident. Gates was involved in a domestic dispute on Sunday, August 24 where he assaulted his girlfriend and killed his son’s 8 week old puppy. ‘VJ Day’ Ceremony Planned

American Legion Post 157 will be having a ceremony commemorating VJ Day (Victory over Japan). The event will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Legion Park in Ellwood City. EC Boys Golf Opens Season With Victory Over Mohawk

Ellwood City Boys Golf Team used strong rounds by Joey Hudson and Milo Sesti to collect a season opening victory over Mohawk on Thursday at Stonecrest Golf Course. Sesti fired a team low round of 39 while Hudson finished with a round of 40 to lead the victors to its 214-237 victory. Calvin Presbyterian Church Hosting GriefShare Program This Fall

Calvin Presbyterian Church will once again host a 13-week GriefShare Program this fall, beginning in September. The program will take place each Sunday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm beginning September 13 and concluding December 13. The church will have a special session, “Surviving the Holidays”, on November 4 during the time slot. No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. POLICE: Ellwood City Man Dies From Crash Injuries

According to a PA State Police report, a 79-year-old man from Ellwood City died in a one vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon between Wampum and Ellwood City. While traveling east on Wampum Road, a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by Glenn Freed, 79, of Ellwood City, lost control for unknown reasons and impacted a utility pole, approximately 10 feet of the right south shoulder on the road. Borough Hosting “Drop off” Clean-Up Progam

The Borough of Ellwood City will be hosting a “Drop off” Clean-Up program Saturday, August 29th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The location of drop-off will be in the parking lot of 1200 Factory Avenue. The program is made possible by the Recycling Fund. To offset the cost, residents will be charged $8.00 per vehicle load per trip (2 trips max) or have the option (for those age 65 or disabled) to pay $35.00 to have items picked up curbside, but still limited to a vehicle load. According to a public information release report made available on the PA State Police website, police are looking for Justin Gates, 31, of Ellwood City, PA in connection with a domestic dispute that took place on Sunday.
