Heritage Valley Offering Drive-Thru Flu Shots At Former EC Hospital

To better serve the community during the COVID-19 outbreak, Heritage Valley Health System is offering scheduled drive-through flu shots at several area locations, including the former Ellwood City Hospital. Drive-through flu shots will only be available for patients who have a scheduled flu shot appointment through the Heritage Valley website, HVHS App or the Flu Shot Scheduling Line at 724.773.4285. Flu shots are available for those age 12 and older. Undefeated EC Boys Cross Country Team Wins Section Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remained undefeated with a victory this week and earned itself a section championship. The Wolverines boys defeated Riverside and Mohawk on Tuesday in earning their eleventh victory of the season.  The boys (11-0 overall) will next turn to MAC Championships at Brush Creek Park on October 14th beginning at 3:00 p.m. Varsity results: Ellwood City 21, Mohawk 38; Ellwood City 20, Riverside 43. POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. Dorothy Haswell, 45, of Ellwood City, is charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident on Friday, September 25.  According to the criminal complaint, the victim stated that on the night prior, Haswell walked into her residence without knocking or permission around 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24.  After a verbal confrontation Haswell jumped over the coffee table in the residence and assaulted the victim.  The victim later came to the ECPD to place her report. Governor Wolf to Reinstate Crowd Gathering Restrictions

Thursday afternoon the PIAA received information that the Third Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay of Judge Stickman’s decision striking the Governor’s COVID-19 restrictions in several areas. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted a request from Gov. Tom Wolf to reinstate crowd gathering restrictions designed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The most important for the PIAA purposes is the limitation on gatherings. The PIAA is hopeful that there may be some modifications to the restrictions. WUMC Offering “Soup Quarts-to-Go”

The monthly Soup Suppers at Wurtemburg United Methodist Church have been modified to ensure the safety of our Customers and Volunteers. Starting Saturday, October 10th, soup will be sold in quart jars; using the Drive-Thru method. We plan to continue serving our soup in this manner; until it is safe to resume serving sit-down inside.  The church is located at 1244 Portersville Rd, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
