The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. HOURS Hours are Monday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please remember no one is available to take your calls unless it is in the hours listed above. Ellwood City Girls Softball Team to Seek Neighboring School District Fields for Home Games

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to allow the girls softball team to use neighboring school districts’ fields for home games during the August 14th Regular Meeting. The girls previously played at Stiefel Park on a field owned by the borough, but they will not return to Stiefel in their upcoming season. The board expressed safety concerns and a deterioration of the field as the reasoning for seeking play at neighboring districts’ fields. Tony Barge Headlines Historical Society Kick-Off Dinner

He has performed in the bands of, and shared the stage with, country music stars from Kitty Wells, to Merle Haggard, to Brad Paisley. Ellwood City’s legendary Country star, Tony Barge, has spent the majority of his life as a performer of classic-style country music. Tony will be the featured guest and entertainer at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s 2025-2026 season kick-off dinner to be held at the Connoquenessing Country Club on September 8th. CCBC Selected As Nationwide Recipient Of Metallica Scholars Initiative

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), is proud to announce its selection as one of 15 nationwide recipients to join Year 7 of the prestigious Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). Supported by a generous $75,000 grant, CCBC will use the funding to support students in its Air Traffic Control (ATC) specialist program for the 2025-2026 academic year. As part of the initiative, CCBC will allocate $60,000 of the grant directly to scholarships, providing $1,000 per student—distributed as $500 in the Fall and $500 in the Spring semesters. Vogel: Senate-Led Spending Plan Focuses on Immediate Critical Service Funding

HARRISBURG – The Senate advanced a responsible spending plan aimed at providing immediate funding support to counties, school districts, social service providers and other services in need of critical resources, according to Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47). While the 2025-26 state budget negotiations continue, Senate Bill 160 would provide funding at the levels included in the final 2024-25 state budget. Five Wolverine Golfers Shoot Sub-40, EC Routs Union 185-271

All five counting scores for the Ellwood City Wolverines golf team were sub-40 on Monday as the team cruised to a 185-271 match victory at home over Union Area. Jordan Keller led the charge with a 3-under round of 33 while Gino Biondi posted a score of 37. It was a “GOOD” day at Delmar Golf Course on Sunday. Tyler Good captured the 65th Annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship yesterday with a brilliant 2 under par 70 to hold off Michael Pope by 2 shots. Good, a former EC golf standout, started the day a shot back of defending champion Jordan Keller, who opened with a 2 under par 70.
