Guy Prestia Celebrates 100th Birthday

Guy Prestia was listed as the ‘most ambitious boy’ of the outstanding seniors in Lincoln High School’s 1940 Ellwoodian. Now, 82 years later, ambitious still describes the World War II veteran as he celebrates his 100th birthday, which is Tuesday, April 26. The Ellwood City native, now a North Sewickley Township resident, still drives around Ellwood City, remains active at Park Gate Baptist Church, is a frequent speaker at veterans gatherings and speaks to students in area schools. Wayne Township Tax Office Will Open May 2

The new Wayne Township Tax Office is set to open on Monday, May 2, 2022. Beaver, Lawrence County Projects Receive a Combined Total of $4.3 Million

HARRISBURG – A total of five Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants, with a combined total of $4.3 million, have been awarded to Beaver and Lawrence County projects, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47). The majority of that grant funding total – $2.3 million – went to Shenango Area School District toward the cost of the already-constructed Shenango Recreation Complex in Shenango Township, Lawrence County. Wolverines Junior High Softball Holds On For Victory; Varsity Baseball Defeated By Vikings

The Ellwood City junior high softball team was able to stave off a 10-run fourth inning and subsequent rallying attempts by Beaver to preserve a 13-12 victory on Friday at Beaver. The Wolverines jumped out to an early 8-0 lead but saw the host Bobcats post a 10-run fourth inning to take its first lead of the ballgame. EC Boys Tennis Wraps Up Season With Victory; EC Softball Suffers First Defeat

The Ellwood City boys tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a victory Thursday afternoon while the Wolverines softball team suffered its first defeat of its regular season earlier in the week.  Also, the Riverside Panthers baseball team cruised to a 22-0 victory over Summit Academy. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

HIT & RUN: PA State Police responded to a report of a hit/run crash on April 8th at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wurtemburg Road, Wayne Township. According to the police report, the complainant claimed that he observed fresh damage to the property owner’s yard and a damaged/dirt covered vehicle, a 2000 Jaguar S-Type, in a nearby church parking lot. Upon arrival to the scene, contact was made with the owner of the vehicle who was currently attempting to have the vehicle towed.
