PHOTOS: Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade

Warm temperatures met the onlookers at the annual Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade held Monday, March 30, 2022. After a wreath was placed into Connoquenessing Creek to start the Memorial Day observance, the parade trailed south across the Veterans Memorial Bridge (5th Street bridge) to the steps of the Lincoln High School Auditorium where it headed west on Crescent Avenue before returning down Lawrence Avenue and ending at the Legion Memorial Park near Circle Playground.

POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: Joseph Taylor, 45, of Wampum, is charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking after an incident in March. According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a residence in Wampum Borough for a reported theft and found the victim whom related his neighbor, Taylor, was at his residence preapring his dinner on March 27th at approximately 5:30 p.m. The victim related that upon making dinner that Taylor proceeded to take two cans of vegtables and a pack of prescription medication off the counter. The victim yelled for Taylor to return the items but Taylor had fled the residence. Police…


Wander Ellwood Night Planned for June 1

The Wander Ellwood Committee is counting down the days to their first big Wander Ellwood night on June 1. The event will be held from 5 to 8 and will feature music by Steel Mill Rising, vendors on the streets, and local businesses that will be open a little later than normal and offering specials. In addition open containers will be allowed on the streets during the event. Sesti, Roth Each Will Continue Athletics Careers at Collegiate Level

Two Ellwood City student athletes have signed letters of intent this week. Lincoln High School seniors Milo Sesti and Alexander Roth have each signed letters of intent this week to continue their respective athletic careers at the collegiate level. Sesti has signed his athletic letter of intent to continue his golfing career at California State University, according to Curtis Agostinelli, Ellwood City athletic director, while Roth has decided to continue his athletic and academic career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Rescue crews spent hours overnight searching for a man who reportedly went over a hillside in Lawrence County. A KDKA news video says 34-year-old victim was shot in the chest and was found by first responders. Seven Panthers, Two Wolverines Set To Compete In PIAA Track & Field Championships

Seven Riverside Panthers and two Ellwood City Wolverines will compete in the 2022 PIAA Track & Field Championships scheduled for Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Seth Grove Stadium on the campus of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Alden Wetzel, a WPIAL Champion in the 400m dash (49.94) is among the five Panther boys competing in individual championships. Wetzel joins fellow Panthers Ty Fluharty, Teddy McHale, and Joe Reed. The Ellwood Area Education Association recently awarded two scholarships to Lincoln High School seniors Emma Wise and Kyla Servick The scholarships are to be used toward their post-secondary expenses. Emma is the daughter of Gina and Ray Wise and will be attending Penn State University, University Park. Kyla is the daughter of Jolene Krupa and Sam Servick and will be attending Westminster College. Presenting the scholarships to the young ladies is Mrs. Heather Brest, a math teacher at Lincoln and the chair of the EAEA Scholarship Committee.


Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation To Meet Friday

The Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) will meet this Friday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. Elwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation is a non-profit special community-based initiative involving Italian ethnic research and genealogy. The focus of the group is on sharing Ellwood City Area Italian Family heritage information. Walk-Off Seals Win For Serra Catholic Against Riverside

It came down to the last play, but Riverside was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to top-seeded Serra Catholic on Monday in the WPIAL Class-2A semifinals at Plum High School.
