EC Borough Council to Meet Tonight

The Ellwood City Borough Council will hold its meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Borough Building. The meeting has accommodations to be awarded as well as resolutions and other business. The borough will look to adopt a resolution to approve the Coronavirus Relief Fund Recipient Agreement from Lawrence County. Council will also discuss a proposal for an annual clean-up program and field requests. A public hearing and special council meeting are also scheduled for August 24th to discuss zoning on Mt. Bernstine Announces $1.1 Million in Funding for Beaver, Lawrence, Butler Counties

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced the awarding of nearly $1.1 million to Beaver, Lawrence and Butler counties, which was made available through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Program (PHARE) to help with homelessness and household modifications and safety challenges. “This funding will help especially with those individuals and families who have limited financial means,” said Bernstine. “Rehabilitating existing properties to meet current market demands is an excellent way to invest our resources for homeless prevention and household projects. Fryer Excavating has been a family owned, locally run business for 15 years and is expanding their services. The business is owned and ran by Kurt and Jaime Fryer. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library will continue doing curbside pickup. Please call us with the book(s), authors, genre or recommended material you would like to check out and our staff will see that it is in alphabetical order in the lobby for you. Limitations for patrons are 10 books and three, either books on CD or DVD’s, per person. Police Investigating Hit and Run On Route 18

On Wednesday, August 12, at approximately 8:00 pm, PA State Police responded to a report of a hit/run crash in which a motorist was traveling south on Route-18 Big Beaver Boulevard near Possum Hollow Road and struck a metal fence, causing substantial damage, owned by “The Race Place” in New Beaver Boro, Lawrence County. Ellwood City Downs Seneca Valley, Advances to Little League Championship

Ellwood City downed Seneca Valley North, 5-3, to advance to the finals of the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field on Thursday night.  With some great play from rival Riverside, a rematch between the rivals could decide the championship. EC 12u Softball Team Wins Playoff Thriller Vs Shenango, Advances To Championship Game

At first glance, the semifinal playoff game had all the makings of a great game. Two evenly matched teams were meeting for the third time with both teams collecting a victory. The rubber match that took place at Stiefel Park on Tuesday night was all of that and more. Lincoln High School Posts Return to School Plan Survey For Parents

Ellwood City Area School District announced on Tuesday a ‘Return to School Plan Survey’ for Lincoln High School parents via a Google Forms survey published on the district site. [The district is] asking all parents of students in grades 7-12 complete the google form survey by Sunday, August 16 at 10:00 PM. Ellwood City edged Riverside, 7-6, in the nightcap of the opening night of the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament at Freidhoff Field Monday night.
