Big Innings Propel Both Riverside & Ellwood City Softball Teams To Victory

Big innings by each of the local softball teams helped secure home victories on Wednesday. Ellwood City used a 7-run second inning en route to a 13-0 mercy rule victory over Beaver Falls while Riverside used an 8-run fourth inning to bounce New Brighton 13-0. For the Wolverines, Keira Rozanski, Amber McQuistion, Ellie Kalantzis, and Alexis Beck each collected two RBIs in the home victory. Kalantzis, McQuistion, and Kaylee Palombi swatted doubles. ARISE, Borough Of Ellwood City Help Launch Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Mayor Anthony J. Court along with Johnna Johnston, Grace Schmarewski, and Olivia Gaffron, representatives from ARISE, placed sign around downtown Ellwood City to kick off the Awareness Month. This month is the 23rd anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 4th Annual Clean Up River Road Event Announced

Riverside Defeats Shenango 7-1, Oliastro Collects 700th Career Victory

Riverside Panthers coach Dan Oliastro collected his 700th career coaching victory as the Panthers defeated Shenango 7-1 on the road Monday afternoon. Darren McDade finished with four RBIs to lead the Panthers offense and batterymate Christian Lucarelli collected the win on the mound. McDade smacked a bases clearing double in the third inning to break open the 1-0 contest and walked in the sixth inning to bring home yet another run for Riverside. HARRISBURG – In his continuing efforts to better inform area gun owners regarding Pennsylvania’s firearms laws, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) is hosting a concealed carry seminar on Saturday, April 13, in Butler. Ellwood City Borough Council: Per Capita Letter, Application Sent in Error

When residents opened their electric bills this week, they also received a letter and a Per Capita Tax Exemption Application, but borough officials said both the letter and application should be discarded. Borough Council President Brad Ovial said the letter and form were sent in error. “Disregard the letter and application. It was a mistake that will be corrected and sent out next month,” he said.
