ECASD Board of Directors Hire New Business Manager

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors met on Thursday March 9 and took the following actions:

  • Motion to approve minutes from February 6, 2023 Committee meeting and February 9, 2023 Regular meeting.
  • Motion to Approve General Fund Treasurer’s Report:
    WesBanco Checking $2,045,205.56
    PLGIT GF Prime/Term $4,541,659.75
    Tax Accounts $ 518,773.47
    PSDLAF $ 1,478.03
    PA Invest $ 410.82
    Total Cash & Investments $7,107,527.63
  • Motion to approve the General Fund Accounts Payable Report, Cafeteria Report and Construction Report.
  • Motion to approve Midwestern IU IV Adoption of Approved LEA Policies, Procedures, and Use of Funds from Midwestern IU IV implemented for the 2023-24 school year to fulfill the requirements of 22 PA Code Chapter 14 and the regulatory requirements under IDEA – Part B be approved as presented.
  • Motion to approve the 2023-24 MIU IV General Operating Budget totaling $3,831,803.00.
  • Motion to approve Midwestern IU IV RWAN E-rate Letter of Agency.
  • Motion to approve Bond Resolution 03092023 for Formal Action Constituting a Debt Ordinance under the Local Government Unit Debt Act.
  • Motion to accept the following resignations:
    1. Sara Grannis, dishwasher, effective February 16, 2023.
    2. Keith Golebie, LHS Computer Science teacher, for the purpose of retirement, effective May 9, 2023.
  • Motion to approve substitute list for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. Cafeteria: Sara Grannis
  • Motion to approve the following Spring Coaches for the 2023 seasons:
    1. Alexa Yoho – Jr. High Volleyball volunteer
    2. Chris Biondi – Baseball volunteer
    3. Clinton Kotuby – Track volunteer
  • Motion to approve FMLA leave for the following in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act and Policy 335:
    1. Tracey Ioanilli, Hartman Instructional Aide, for an intermittent family medical leave as needed from December 6, 2022 through the end of the 2022-23 school year.
    2. Michael Nocera, Custodian, for a family medical leave effective March 1. 2023 through the end of the 2022-23 school year.
  • Motion to Hire Scott Korba as Business Manager at a salary of $85,000.00.
  • Motion to approve the following facility requests:
    1. After Prom Committee is requesting the use of the Lincoln High School big gym for the After Prom on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 11:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. with set up at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 5 and cleanup from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
    2. Ellwood City Historical Society is requesting to place a Pennsylvania Historical Marker near Woodside Avenue honoring Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inductee from Ellwood City, Lewis Robert “Hack”Wilson. They are asking permission to use the area behind the right field fence near the batting cages for a dedication ceremony on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They would like the Marching Blue Band or some members of the blue band to play the National Anthem and “Take me out to the Ballgame”.
  • Motion to approve Change Order PC-3 for Perry Project Plumbing for change order amount of add $19,890.75.
  • Motion for the following new/revised policies that have been on display since the last board meeting be recommended for approval:

  • Motion to approve to extend the proposal with River Therapies for the 2023-24 school year at a rate of $70 per hour.
  • A motion to nominate Jean Biehls to run for a seat on the Midwestern IU IV board.
