  Raymond Lopez, 83, of Portersville PA (Perry Twp., Lawrence County) passed away peacefully on January 25, 2017, at Franciscan Manor, in Beaver Falls, with family at his side. He was born in Callery PA, Butler Co., on April 7, 1933 to the late Louis Lopez, and the late Cornelia Adams Lopez. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City before serving in the US Air Force during the Korean War, from 1951-1955. Norma Jean Nye, 86

Norma Jean Nye, 86, of  New Castle, (Shenango Twp.) passed away peacefully on  Monday morning, January 16 2017 at her residence. She was born in Sharpsville, PA (Mercer Co.) on October 26, 1930, to the late Samuel Miller Reed Felton and the late Rachel Julia Shaffer Felton. Norma graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1948  and Westminster College in 1952.  She began her career as a teacher for one  year in Hermitage,  then in the Ellwood City Area School District where she taught  elementary music education at Hartman, North Side, Perry, Ewing Park and West End Schools for 32 years….

Bruce M. Hockenberry, 64, of Harper’s Ferry Road,   Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) , passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 12 2017 at his residence. James G. Santis, 90,   of Frederick,  Maryland, formerly  of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a brief illness on Wednesday evening, December 21, 2016 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in  Frederick MD. He was born in Ellwood City,  on February 8, 1926 to the late Dimitrios and Vasiliki Santis. Marshela   A. Heitzer, 68, of  Ellport,  (Ellwood City) passed away peacefully on Sunday  December 4 2016  at noon at her residence. She was born in Butler PA on March 23 1948 to the late  Paul Horst and the late Gladys Learn Horst. Zachary L. “Zack” Sockaci of Fombell passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, November 23, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born February 19, 1922 in Park Gate (Ellwood City) to the late John D. Sockaci and Adrienne (Pelissier) Sockaci. Zack graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1942 and achieved the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class and served on submarine patrol in the North Atlantic. He was discharged in December of 1945.
