Sarah “Sally” Elizabeth Straw, 93, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away at the River City Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Born in Eastvale, PA, Sally was the daughter of the late William and Stella Cochran Douds.  Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Straw, who passed away on September 25, 2006.  They were married on June 23, 1951.  Sally, along with her husband, owned and operated Straw’s Bakery on the North Side of Ellwood for over 20 years.  After her retirement in 1977, she worked the next 12 years for Bakery Supply Co. in Pittsburgh.  Sally was a…

Rodnie R. Tedrow, 74, of Wampum, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. Born on November 14, 1948 in Waynesburg, PA, Rodnie was the son of the late Fred and Velma Harris Tedrow.  Rodnie served in the US Army during Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  He retired from Vesuvius McDanel in Beaver Falls where he worked as a Master Mold Maker.  Rodnie enjoyed riding motorcycles and tinkering with cars, but most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his children, his grandchildren, and his dogs. Carol L. Kingston, 78, of Ellwood City, passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Born in Ellwood City on November 5, 1944, Carol was the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene McKim Bable, Sr.  She married Clarence “Barn” Kingston on May 11, 1962 and they just celebrated 61 years of marriage.  Carol worked at Fisher’s Big Wheel in New Castle and Ellwood City.  She also worked at the former ECASD employee credit union for many years.  A member of First United Methodist Church, Carol was part of their original “Apple Dumpling Gang”.  She was very active…

Elizabeth “Betty” Hulick, 92, of Ellwood City, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Trinity Oaks. Born in West Aliquippa on May 3, 1931, Betty was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Palazzi Lise. Betty married her beloved husband, George “Skip” Hulick on May 8, 1954 and they enjoyed fifty-eight years together until he preceded her in death in January of 2013. Betty worked at the First Street Bakery in Ellwood, Mine Safety Appliance and later as a luggage inspector at Airway Luggage. She was a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Mary M. Guerrini, 82, of Ellport, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Born in Caserta, Italy on September 26, 1940, Mary was the daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Biasucci DiFusco.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Guerrini on October 14, 2022.  They were married on April 4, 1959.  Mary was a florist at Guerrini’s Floral Shop and later worked at the Knitting Mill, Dust Proof, Romar and Fotia’s.  She was a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers.  Mary enjoyed crocheting…

Norma Jean Muntean passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2023. She was born Norma Jean Bango on September 19th, 1929. Norma grew up in West Mayfield and Ellwood City.  She married Nick Muntean of Ellwood City on her birthday in 1948.  Her parents were Anna (Mitchell) and Ralph Ferrante.  She was a member of Park Alliance Church in Ellwood City. Brian Christopher Tedrow, 49, of Portersville, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born in Ellwood City on March 6, 1974, Brian is the son of Rodnie and Diane (Shoaff) Tedrow of Wampum.  He worked at Cleveland Brothers CAT for twenty-two years.  Brian married the former Leslie Wassink on February 9, 2019.  He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and four wheelers.  A Veteran of the US Army, Brian was a friend to everyone.  He was always the first one offering to lend a hand. Albert Joseph Whalen, 94, of Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at UPMC McCandless. Born in Ashland, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1928, Albert was the son of the late Albert and Marie Althoff Whalen. After high school, Albert attended the Williamson College of the Trades where he earned his degree in brick masonry.  After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a military police officer during the Korean War.  Once he was honorably discharged, he attended Florence Alabama Teachers College and became a Philadelphia police officer for eighteen years.  Albert was…

Hubert L. Reed, 91, of Fombell passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian. Born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1931, Hubert was the son of the late James and Fern Deal Reed.  He is survived by his wife, the former Joann Sumey, whom he married in August of 1952.  He retired from Halstead where he worked as a welder and was also President of the Union Local 7032.  Hubert was the founder of the Fombell Lancers Marching Band.  A veteran of the United States Army, he played the drums in the 8th Army Band in Germany….
