Karolina Gaul, 90, of Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Concordia at Wexford. Born in Germany on July 24, 1934, Karolina was the daughter of the late Karl and Elizabeth Platzer.  She married Eugene “Gene” Gaul on January 29, 1957, and spent sixty-five years together until he preceded her in death in 2022.  Karolina was a member of the Ellport Presbyterian Church, a founding member of the Ellwood City Lioness Club and a former member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. Shirley Sosnoski, 72, of Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at UPMC Passavant McCandless. Born in Ellwood City on December 31, 1952, Shirley was the daughter of the late Jay and Faye Maine Newton.  A 1971 graduate of Lincoln High School, Shirley retired from WalMart where she worked as an optician for many years.  She was a devout Christian and whenever her health prohibited her from attending services in person, she faithfully watched online.  Shirley was a former Avon Lady, and she was very creative.  She enjoyed drawing and making jewelry and wreaths.
