Route 351 Koppel Bridge Traffic Stoppages begin Monday

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing traffic stoppages on the Koppel Bridge (Route 351) in Koppel Borough and North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, will begin Monday, December 3 weather permitting. Traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Koppel Bridge through Tuesday, January 15. Crews from Brayman Construction will conduct steel erection for the new bridge from the existing structure. Motorists should expect delays. Bernstine Announces Grant for Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced a $6,500 grant has been awarded to Butler County Area Vocational Technical School (AVTS) for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations. Awarded by the Department of Education, the grants will be used for the purchase of an engine lathe and tooling set. The new equipment will be used to support the machine technology program. The Ellwood City United Fund c1mp1ign started October 1, 2018, and will continue until December 31, 2018. The campaign committee met on this week, Monday, November 26, to review the number of contributions up to this day. The committee had set one goal of $50,000.00 to provide funding for the eight agencies they support (Ellwood Family Center, People in Need, Ellwood City Public Library, LARK Enterprises, Boy & Girl Scouts, Human Services, and Ellwood Education Foundation). Allegheny Aquatic Alliance Awards Borough With Plaque

The Ellwood City Borough Council and the Mayor’s office were honored to received a plaque, that was presented last week, from The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance. Along with Borough Council and the Mayor’s office, the Ellwood City Police Department is also a proud sponsor of this organization. With over 400 volunteers, this organization had picked up 404 tires and 58,126 pounds of trash within 2018. From their start, they’ve collected a total of 4,455 tires and 418,983 pounds of trash. Star Wars Comes To The Ellwood Library On Saturday

The 501st Legion known as Vader’s Fist promotes volunteer work through quality costumed appearances nationwide relating to Star Wars. Ellwood City Library has hosted the group every two years since its 100th anniversary in 2014 and will continue to entertain the group this weekend. Bernstine Announces $225,000 in School Safety Grant Awards for Area Schools

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced that $225,000 in funding has been awarded to nine school districts in the 10th Legislative District to help improve student safety through a new grant program established by lawmakers earlier this year. The School Safety and Security Grant Program provides grants to school districts, intermediate units, area vocational-technical schools, charter schools and private residential rehabilitative institutions for a wide variety of projects to improve school safety.
