Women’s Network of Ellwood City is made up of professional women from Ellwood City and the surrounding area who’s common goal is to gain education and entertainment throughout the year and to raise funds for the less fortunate of the area. Lincoln High Grad Covert Shoots 82; BC3 Men’s Golf Team Now 5-2

Mitchell Covert, a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, tied for fourth among the Pioneers’ lowest scores with an 82 to help BC3 defeat Westmoreland County Community College 311-321 and the Community College of Allegheny County 311-349 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler on Friday. Jaxon Salata fired a career-low 73 as a Butler County Community College golfer and finished as medalist for the first time, and teammate Parker Worsley placed second overall with a 76 as the Pioneers’ men’s team moved to 5-2 with victories last week. Vogel Announces $10.3 Million to Expand High-Speed Broadband Access in 47th Senate District

HARRISBURG – Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) today announced that $10.3 million has been provisionally awarded to expand broadband access in the 47th Senate District. Internet providers who will be receiving the awards from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority are Amazon Kuiper, Armstrong Telecommunications, Inc, Comcast, CoreConnect, SpaceX and Verizon. “Whether through fiber or satellite, expanding broadband access to communities currently beyond reach is a critical mission,” Vogel said. “It impacts homes and schools, connects families and businesses, and is a key component of job creation. CCBC Selected As Nationwide Recipient Of Metallica Scholars Initiative

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), is proud to announce its selection as one of 15 nationwide recipients to join Year 7 of the prestigious Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). Supported by a generous $75,000 grant, CCBC will use the funding to support students in its Air Traffic Control (ATC) specialist program for the 2025-2026 academic year. As part of the initiative, CCBC will allocate $60,000 of the grant directly to scholarships, providing $1,000 per student—distributed as $500 in the Fall and $500 in the Spring semesters. Vogel: Senate-Led Spending Plan Focuses on Immediate Critical Service Funding

HARRISBURG – The Senate advanced a responsible spending plan aimed at providing immediate funding support to counties, school districts, social service providers and other services in need of critical resources, according to Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47). While the 2025-26 state budget negotiations continue, Senate Bill 160 would provide funding at the levels included in the final 2024-25 state budget.
