Watch Out For Increased Scams This Holiday Season

HARRISBURG—Attorney General Josh Shapiro issued a warning this week to Pennsylvanians of common online scams that may increase in frequency this holiday season. “Because of the pandemic, this holiday season looks and feels different than those in the past,” said Attorney General Shapiro. “These scams are present all year long and it is important that Pennsylvanians remain on guard. Mayor Court Swears In Officer Joshua Sipe

A recently hired police officer was sworn in by Mayor Anthony Court on November 30, 2020. Officer Joshua Sipe is a full-time officer. Ellwood City Police Department now has 10 full-time officers and 3 part-time officers in the department.  The new officer was sworn in at Mayor Court’s office in the Ellwood City Municipal Building. Riverside Christmas Angel Collection

Franklin Township has announced a Riverside Christmas Angel Collection event in hopes of collecting items in need for all ages.  All items need to be new The collection is in need of the following: Toys for all ages, sheet sets, toiletry & hygiene products, Axe body care, Old Spice body care, Bath and Body Works items, shampoos, conditioners, toothbrushes, make-up, socks for kids Pk-12th, hand sanitizer singles or family size, and gift cards in any amount (Aldi, Giant Eagle, Walmart, fast food, local restaurant, local businesses). As COVID-19 Cases Reach Critical Levels, Wolf Admin Announces New Mitigation Efforts

With new modeling projecting 22,000 new COVID-19 cases per day in Pennsylvania in December, Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine today announced new targeted mitigation measures to help stop the spread during this critical time. These include a robust enforcement plan targeted at chronic violators along with an effort to ensure schools are safe and in compliance with COVID safety plans. New Pact with LaRoche Provides BC3 Transfers With Options, Possible Scholarships

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s new agreement with La Roche University will allow BC3 graduates with an associate degree in early childhood education (Pre K-4) to transfer credits toward any one of three bachelor’s degree programs in education and to be eligible for annual merit scholarships of up to $15,000 from the private institution near Pittsburgh. Snow and Ice Reminder From Ellwood City Borough Public Works

With the weather conditions rapidly changing, I would like to remind residents to remove any items hanging over the roads, (Basketball hoops, ETC.) Park in driveways where possible so we can clear your streets. Our plows are 10’ wide, if your roads are narrow and you have no driveway, please stagger your parking so we can weave in and out of cars parked on both sides. Riverside School District To Shift To Virtual Online Learning on December 1

Proclamation Presented to EC Girls Volleyball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City girls volleyball team, remarking on the team’s outstanding accomplishments. The team finished with a 17-1 overall record earning a Class 2A, Section 1 championship and WPIAL Finals appearance. “Proud of this special group on an outstanding season!” said Mayor Court in a statement. “Congratulations girls!” The Wolverines were ousted by North Catholic 3-1 in the WPIAL Class 2A championship November 7 at Fox Chapel, suffering their lone defeat of the season.
